Hi All

New Civic sport owner here from the UK.

The car is absolutely amazing apart from one thing...... The audio is terrible and very muddy.

I have a UK sport model with 2 speakers (mid and tweeter) in each door.

I am thinking of upgrading in stages but not sure about a couple of things I'm hoping you guys might know about.

First off...... Will the stock head unit be ok running a set of upgraded component speakers. (was thinking JL audio of some sort) front and rear?

Secondly. I'm thinking of a sub in the boot with an amp but not sure how to get a speaker feed to it ? Any ideas.

Finally..... Is it worth fitting some sound deadening in the doors ?

Cheers.

Steve, not sure how my Canadian LX sedan compares to the UK sport. But I can say that the car has the same head unit in it as the higher trims, aside of satellite, but no factory amp. I understand the stateside LX has a different unit. I received great advice here when I inquired for mine. I went with the recommendation of a Kicker Key amp, along with upgraded speakers. (Alpine S ) That amp has a DSP which really makes a difference imho. I did both together = extremely pleased. There is a small area under the radio and behind the climate controls in which to stow the key in a width wise vertically way. Hope that makes sense. It seems to get enough cooling as zero issues with it at all. There's a ton of knowledge on this forum - they'll chime in and add much more than I could. :)

Cheers for the help !

Ok so far I have ordered the following:

Speakers : Vibe 6.5 inch components.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233553773154

Amp: Vibe Optisound micro 4 4 x 65 RMS

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323492212162

Also ordered various bits of sound deadening material, speaker ring adaptors, speaker baffles and trim clips.

The plan is to change and amp all the door speakers with the vibe kit and then see if a sub will be required.

One good thing about the micro 4 amp is that I can use the RCA into another amp so if I need a sub I can tap off that.

As my car doesn't come with a sub I will be exploring the use of the standard premium sound system enclosure with a different sub or potentially an underseat sub.

Thoughts are welcomed.
