TypeR Vortex Generator on Hatchback?

The OEM type r winglets use the same mounting bolts that our duck bill uses. The absdynamic winglets are only held in by 3m tape. The tiny fins in the middle are held in by clips but you would need to drill 4 new holes in the hatch for that to work.

I didn't have much lunch trying to find just the fins on ebay. Abs sells the fins and winglets together

Want to do this myself, as I dont like the hatchback spoiler. The OEM parts cost about $200.

Decided to just wrap the roof and spoiler/fins black. I kinda like the way it looks. Also wrapped the sides/top of the tail lights while I was at it. Subtle but clean.

Did you get the OEM or the ABS Dynamics?

This is what I am planning to do. It's just the question of spending $200 painted vs $100 and wrapping it gloss black. Would you know if OEM uses a different material for these than the aftermarket ones?

Im not really sure as i havent experienced aftermarket. I will say that when i was looking at aftermarket fins, i had concerns about mounting. The oem ones are bolted into place and eont fly off. The aftermarket ones are held in by just tape.

you can re-use the bolt/screw that’s connected with your current spoiler. The clips are already attached on the fin.

The white clip sockets are also attached to the fins. You can remove the old ones by pushing the tabs in.

I just finished installing the OEM type R Vortex generators and side extensions on my Hatchback Sport. I got the spacing dimensions of the mounting holes from the Type R forums and engineered a sheet metal template that was laser cut at my work.
After drilling the first hole I knew there was no turning back, but it turned out great! Up next, type R wing from ABS Dynamics!

Question.. I know the oem stuff comes painted.. where are you getting the abs ones painted though? And how much is it costing?
