So I have a story to share about trading in my 17 CTR for a 2016 Hellcat..
About 3 week's age I drove 4 hours to trade in my CTR...I arrived at the dealership and test drove the cat. I also had the cat brought to a dodge dealer so they could do an inspection before a did the deal. They offered me 28500 for my CTR with 14k miles on her...FBO tuned to 370hp ,380tq...I have a daily driver so I was able keep the miles low.
I have been switching my cars out every couple of years now and have no problem doing it...evo to c63 to gtr to e63...so I figure I could do it....well I was there for 2 hours and could pull the trigger..3% rate for the loan...just couldn't give her up..lol
Ended up getting the Hellcat a week ago but traded my daily driver instead..lol

Hey how is the hellcat? Been thinking of trading my type R in for one.

The Type R -

- More usable power, all the time
- Cheaper tires / wear and tear - even the fronts on those get eaten up with the weight of the engine
- Going straight is boring
- Heavy car eating tires into corners is boring
- Utility - gone or limited
- Use fraction of the Hellcats power on the regular and probably once or twice maybe the full 700hp - Type R - hoon fun all day every day digging into redline and having a blast.

The Hellcat is a great SECOND car - but to give up the R for one - lol - nah.

Wonderful news. I want that new TRX Hellcat Truck, but I couldn't give up my R for it.

I buy my cars to have fun on the roads vs just a track car. If I lived somewhere that was completely flat and had a ton of straight roads I would def opt for a muscle car. Being in Virginia with all the twisties at my disposal, it’s hard to beat a CTR.

I have both, they are totally different cars. The Type R is fun, sporty, handles like a slot car and a lot of fun on a twisty road. The Cat is roomy, powerful and a friggin blast in a straight line, at a stoplight or just cruising around blasting the throttle. Either one is a lot of fun. Both are summer toys driven on nice days for me. I drive a Ram 2500 mega cab as a daily driver.

That would have been my suggestion! Good choice. Drive both in good health.

i’ve owned both and this is very accurate

i loved the hellcat but because i never brought it to the track, there are only a few places on the road where you can tap into that power

with the hellcat, it was the first time in all my years of car ownership where i ran my tires down to the wire

the type r inspires a lot more confidence when it is wet (rains a lot where i live). had to drive the hellcat like a granny during rainy season when it was my daily driver because it was so easy to break traction

i prefer the type R but i do agree you’ve gotta own both in one lifetime to at least make the comparison yourself

now that TRX, eyeballing that for my next daily in a few years ?

One's a straight line killer that sounds like a beast and the other is a corner machine. Seems like you've got the best of both worlds

Bought a daily....needs a new daily haha that’s badass man. Can’t touch you in the corners with the R. Can’t touch you in a straight line with the kitty. Good choice on still getting the hellcat regardless haha
