I’ve been searching online and I have yet to find anyone try and duplicate the Type R style sealed ram air intake on a 1.5 turbo Civic... Has this been attempted or done yet?

I‘ll probably be picking up a Type R cooling plate and spare normal Civic cooling plate, and Frankenstein’ing them together to add the large Type R induction inlet.. Then trying to cobble together a Type R intake box that will work with the normal 1.5L intake tube, MAF housing, and filter... I’m mainly not sure if the the upper bumper induction piece would be a straight forward install or if there are other pieces under the cooling plate that need to be swapped or modified

what say you all? Doable?

I think you might be the first to use Type R parts. I know someone on here was trying to do the same thing, just completely custom. Don't know where that thread is. But I think if you have the time its worth trying.

Here's a custom build of plate that will provide a similar sealed box setup

nice. He’s definitely going the more custom fabricated route and it looks great. Interesting to see the issues he’s run in to so far.

looking in to the difference between the hatch and sedan support he noted, it looks like that support just under the cooling plate may be shaped different on the Type R as well, to make room for the induction plate.
