Do you think it makes a difference when it comes to underhood temps?

Can you guys post up pics of your hood scoops from outside the vehicle and also the inside of the hood? Trying to see if I can add the Type R scoop on my Si, for extra cooling purposes. Thanks in advance. PFA

If you are looking for more cooling from hood modification, dont use a scoop, use a vent to extract heat from the engine bag. I will have laser cut aluminum louvers available soon for the FK8 hood and will work with some custom mounting for the non R hoods as well. Starting with center scoop replacement but more to come as well. And it works. This was my,hand cut prototype just before Road Atlanta Global Time Attack event. 88° ambient temps and I was able to hot lap at full pace a full 15 minute session with peak temps hitting 233, but average around 222.

I have driven in downpour rain as well as had the car parked in it with zero issues from rain getting down into the Vents. Modern cars have weathersealed connections, etc. Would be really gard to effect anything other than an exposed intake filter.

Sounds like this could be one of the cooling issue breakthroughs we have been waiting for. Seriously interested if the scoop fits well (ie curved to match the OEM hood scoop slot) and would be even better if it was available in semi gloss or gloss black or in the OEM colors.

Is that a Mishimoto inter cooler running your are running or trialing for them? If so, how is that working as far as cooling?

It will be offered in black powdercoat and possibly colors. Laser 3d scanned the Hood to get shape perfect for laser cutting the panels.

Yes, testing prototype intercooler for a couple months, working very well, more coming very soon.

Thank you so much. You definitely got my attention. You can sign me up for one of these when they are out.

The scoop on the FK8 is actually purely for downforce. If you look at the underside of the hood, you’ll see the air flows directly into a channel under the hood that directs the air across to the sides and out the side vents.
