I don’t see Honda transferring everything into a new case on these cars. If the do or wanted to I would fight tooth an nail for the whole trans to be replaced... keeps us posted bro

He going to get a new trans... Honda’s not going to bother taking trans out and swapping everything from the trans into a new trans case... it’s not done like that anymore way to many hours for labor an to many things can go wrong with putting it back together. I would be surprised if Honda swapped parts into a new case

One guy had that happen, new case and swapped gears.

Idk I think it all depends on what dealer anyone goes to.. what techs they have an what they tell Honda an what Honda decides to do. My buddy who’s having issues took his in today for the grind an lockout... i’ll Let everyone know what they say. I haven’t had the lockout issue much anymore but 2nd isn’t right I don’t like it’s on up shift or down shift.. kinda wanna see how they treat my buddy then i’ll Go from there

He said in the past they've replaced just cases for other manual transmission vehicles but there's lots of labor involved. I told him I wanted a new transmission if the tranny case is bad so we'll see.
I’m in MA as well. Which Honda dealership has the certified Type R techs?

I don’t think dealer techz have to be certified type r techs

Herb chambers in seekonk is where I'm going.
That's where I bought my Type R. The Master Tech at Herb Chambers Seekonk is the only person that works on my Type R.

Tech got into it today and removed the tranny. It ended up being a bad casting in the case. Honda is replacing the case half and every bearing/gasket they need for anyone curious. Glad the problem is found without any time wasted or frustration.

I saw your car this afternoon. My CTR was in for the first oil change and to fix a brake noise coming from the front brakes. They removed a rock from the backing plate.

I would want a new transmission. Too many things can go wrong swapping cases. I assume it’s a lot of time and work to swap them as well..

Keep us posted.

I wanted a new transmission too but the cost of a new one is like $10k versus just replacing the case half that's leaking. I guess the labor of doing the case and swapping everything over still doesn't outweigh the price of a new tranny. I am also going to use amsoil synthetic manual synchromesh transmission fluid when things go back together. Stuffs expensive but hear it's really good.

Small world lol. I've had that issue with rocks getting into the backing plate but they always fall out eventually. Drives me insane when I hear it lol

1-2 grind happened twice to me. Tech looked at all the synchros and gears and everything looked good. I'm going to be using amsoil so hopefully I'll notice a difference.
