Traded in the Si for a new GTI

Love the new wheels! One of these days I’d love to get a GTI. Thanks for the shout out and I’ll just say that much of what I’ve learned over the years about cars was from good folks on forums even way back in the 1900s.

Hell of a lot more car for the money, and the best transmission around. And the gen 3 EA888 is a far superior engine to the L15. Almost like VW has been doing DI turbo cars for 15 years ?

I came close to selling my 2019 SI for a 2018+ GTI, drove multiple ones a few months ago, specifically only looking for the S trim (didn't care for the sunroof). It drove nice but did not wow me, I mainly wanted it for the hatch look and the timeless, conservative styling. I ended up paying off the Si, lowered the car and am satisfied with what it is for now.
I'm not forgetting about the GTI though, but if I were to to do it, it'd be a 2020 S trim since I heard it came with the then standard performance package.

As a navy guy who grew up in the 80s and 90s surrounded by “kids” who were born after 2000... saying I used to do something-or-other “in the 1900s” is a phrase I use to make them go “Wow you’re old!” and a few of the other old guys around me groan with the realization that... well... they’re the old men.

Gonna drive it stock for a while but there's definitely some tuning in my future! The allure of ~300hp is pretty strong. My first mod is just going to be upgrading the paddle shifters and getting a dashcam.

Lol it's almost as if Honda makes the fastest hot hatch.

The Yaris GR and the new golf R are serious machines.
Toyota better offer an equivalent alternative.

Sweet color. Definitely quite the upgrade from the Si. Those Autobahns are fully loaded I think, yes? Wish you the best of luck with the car. I didn't know they made the Golf in that color.
