Hey R family. Kind of an odd way to start off my first post ever on this forum but I finally threw up my hands after searching far and wide for the answer to my dilemma. So first off, I frequently Autocross my cars. I know the Type R "stock" is currently classed DS according to SCCA (I think) however I am not too concerned with being bumped out of class as I also autocross my ST which is my GoTo for this type of event. What I am looking to do with the Type R is mainly road courses and other HPDE events with the occasional trips to AutoX. I've already Autox'd the R and my first impression is that the tires have got to go; along with these heavy ass 20s. I have been looking for the correct wheel and tire option that will give me the light weight performance while not causing the tires to rub under load. Already know that the RE71r's are going to be the tires but the size has been boggling my mind. I am on factory suspension now but I am looking to lower the car either on Swift Spec R springs or Spoon. My selection will depend on the rear sway bar and what tire size I end up with. SOoo with that over lengthy explanation out of the way, what is the best wheel size to go with the optimum tire size without having to modify my fenders. If rubbing is just a natural fact then I'll just have to suck it up but any input from you all will help. I have a list of what I had considered so far (all are 18x9.5 or 9

Gramlight 57CR +38
Enkei TS-V +40
Motegi R133 +45
Superspeed RF03RR +38

If you plan on lowering, don’t go any lower than +45. Especially if you lower with swift springs. I highly recommend checking out Titan7 wheels.

I would definitely get the Titan7s if they were in my budget. So I ended up getting the Enkei's. 18x9.5 +40. 20lbs which is heavier but with the RE71rs already mounted. I couldn't pass it up.

That’s a nice looking wheel. 20lbs is a lot better than the 29lb stock wheels!

Wheels finally came in!... well two of them at least. I impatiently threw them on to see how they sat and I was very satisfied. There is always anxiety involved when I buy new wheels. I never know how they are going to look until they get show up but I was overjoyed with relief when I test fitted the Enkei's. The remaining set should be arrive this afternoon so I'll get better pics after. Apologies for the crappy Android phone photos.

My favorite angle, I just love how meaty this setup looks!

For anybody wondering what +40 offset with 265/35 looks like on factory suspension. The wheel gap isnt horrible but I will get springs at some point.

Thanks for this. They look great to me. Specs are close enough to the Titans and half the price. All of these wheels are on my short list as well. I really like the new superspeed RF05RR also but I think they may poke out a bit too far. Would like to see more pictures and hear your opinion on how they feel compared to stock

I was very close to getting the RF05RR's as well. I even was planing on getting a custom color however I just did not want to deal with having to find a shop to mount and balance. Plus, longer shipping since I think they were still in the middle of manufacturing them. At the end, I am satisfied with the way these turned out. I was not expecting the concavity which was a good surprise. I'll keep you guys posted once I got all 4 mounted.

Does that bottom picture have the Enkei installed in the back or just the front?
I had the factory wheels on in the back. You can see how sunk in +60 are compared to +40

The Superspeed RF05RR would be perfect in et45. The Enkei looks almost exactly flush with the fender, looks good. I'm guessing the et38 on the superspeeds poke out past the fenders, might not look as good.

Got the wheels on over the weekend. I'm loving how they look even without a drop. The poke is subtle and adds to the flare of the wider stance the R has. No rubbing so far but I haven't really pushed the car beyond what I can on the street. As usual, these tires are loud as hell but I like to think of it as the tires gripping the road like crazy lol. I'll have a better review when I get back on a track.

Hell no haha. I knew from searching around the web that Enkei makes 9.5" width so I just called them up and told them what I needed and they were really helpful in finding it for me. The thing about tirerack is you have to sometimes look under different car models to find the unique sizes.
