Hi everyone. As I kind of already gave it away, I was involved in a pretty intense accident about a week ago. Totaled my 3 week old Civic HB when I was making a left on a green arrow and the other driver ran the redlight. Airbags deployed but I have to say that the Civic is an incredible car at absorbing the impact and protecting me. I believe the Honda Sense was able to recognize an impact and applied automatic braking to prevent me from entering the intersection completely.

I'll save the details of the accident but I wanted to throw some pictures up if anyone is cautious on the safety ratings. I have already talked to the salesperson I bought it from 3 weeks ago and told them I'm on my way to buy a 2nd.

Glad you are OK. Wow that looks like a nasty impact.

Civic held its own against a bigger assailant, judging from the minivan in the background of that first photo.

You're right. I came out significantly better than the other two passengers in the van. I don't think they even saw the red light to hit the brakes. Spun me 180 from where I was originally pointing.

Glad you're safe! Awful way to test the safety but glad to know it works. The more I drive, the more I realize how awful drivers in my state are (almost got hit yesterday by someone who decided to turn out of the turn lane and into my lane just as I pulled next to them just to pull around a car waiting to do a u-turn). Went back just to check that I got the GAP lol

Glad you are OK!

My sister was in a similar accident last year, hit head on in her 9th Gen Civic sedan. Spun her around 180 degrees, car totaled, but she walked away from it unscathed. So she got a 2016 Civic sedan to replace it. I can’t say enough about the safety Honda engineers into their vehicles.

Several have asked and sent me messages about it but I did buy the GAP insurance. Best $269 I will ever spend. Nothing like learning so much all at once about how insurance works, auto loans work, liabilities work, etc.
