Has anyone ever seen this happen before? Only 1 tire, and I am not sure the cause or if it can even be fixed.

Does anyone know the exact part to be replaced if a replacement is needed?

Thanks for your help

Looks like the clear coat is peeling off. Yes, it can be fixed. If you're still under warranty, take it back to the dealership.

I had this happen to me on my current car, the clear coat was peeling of like yours is. Since my rims weren’t covered by warranty anymore, I had to sand them down and paint them again. I think you’ll either need to replace the rim or give it to someone to re-paint it again. In Slovenia a new rim (the exact one on your picture) costs 237,34€. Sanding and repainting would cost less, but the rim you get painted will 100% look a bit different.

I had this happen to one of my wheels. If the car is still under warrantee, ask the dealer if it can be replaced for free. Unfortunately the only real fix is to have a professional wheel restoration place completely strip it down and repaint it.

The bad part about that is it costs ~150$ per wheel, and the paint may not 100% match

The pros:
Way thicker and better quality paint than factory. It’ll last longer/chip less from rocks

But is that worth paying 600$ to have those wheels restored, which probably aren't worth 600$ if you sold them new? Maybe if you really really like those wheels? ‍

Don’t go cheap or DIY it! Aint worth it
