There might be something wrong with my engine

So a few months ago I wanted to take my engine full revs so I did a kick down. Engine didn’t go over 3500 rpm so I did a downshift with the paddles and I hear a noise. It was like dragging furniture around the house. I didn’t try it again since then. I hit a dog a month ago and had radiators changed, intercooler etc. How could I try and go up to 5500 rpm at a low speed for city for eg? And what’s wrong with the paddles?

A couple of months ago you tried to downshift and the car made a noise like dragging furniture?

And you’ve been driving it like that ever since? :eek:

From the description it sounds like a problem with the CVT to me. Does the engine rev normally during acceleration?

The dragging furniture sound is scary. I suspect a belt was slipping. I hope it wasn't the CVT one.

Nope. Haven’t tried that since. The car is good apart from that, no other symptoms.

My car is one year old and had about 7,500 km. How is that possible

Should I try driving it in sport and in manual mode, see if it goes higher than 4k rpm?

Not sure why people get the CVT transmission and try and drive it like a manual. If you want to shift for yourself, get the right transmission for that purpose, otherwise let the CVT do the job it was designed for.
All that I understand from your post is that you never drove a CVT car with paddles, maybe never drove a CVT and you have no idea how it works. The CVT with paddles was designed to do what the OP is describing. My advice: if you want to talk about CVT/paddles, first get the right car for it.

OP: You can downshift with paddles one "gear" down at any time. I would avoid doing it while pushing the pedal down hard.

To try how high rpm you can get, shift to S, touch a paddle and start going in 1st gear until it switches to 2nd automatically. Or just find a piece of appropriate road with high speed limit drive at 40-60 km/h and then push it hard all the way or almost all the way down to accelerate.

By downshifting manually, instead of letting the CVT do its thing.
Na. His issue is mostly likely due to his accident man. He hit somethign so hard it fucked up the car and had shit replaced. No doubt it's not perfect. DEFINITLY not due to using the paddle shifters. No way.

It’s all computerized. I doubt downshift caused anything.
