Yes, e-tunes by D-Rob and John Vega have proven to be excellent and are both highly recommended tuners.

Vehicle: 2018 Civic Si

Total tuned time: Over 15 months

Tuned miles driven: About 15k

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner

Tunes used: TSP 1+

Fuel used: 93 octane pump gas

Additional related mods: PRL intake, Mishimoto intercooler

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Casual/Spirited. Occasional WOT and often quick accelerate. Usually stay on MAP 1.

Tune experience notes

I had so many concerns about requiring a new clutch shortly after the tune. I do stay on MAP 1 often especially with the current gas prices but the clutch has slipped once and haven't noticed any lip after.

Total tuned time: Year and a half

Tuned miles driven: 6k

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata Race

Tunes used: Started with OTS tune, now on custom tune.

Fuel used: Shell 93

Additional related mods: PRL 5" Catted downpipe, PRL HVI Intake, PRL Inlet Pipe, PRL Intercooler with piping, Sequence Titanium Exhaust

Problems/issues: Slight hiccup at around 6500rpm, but it rolls through it. We are trying to figure it out.

Driving style: Mostly around town, moderate driving. The occasional stupidity sets in, and I just wanna "hoon" around.

Tune experience notes: My tune is great, but....I think my car has more in it. I will be figuring the hiccup out soon and let everyone know how it goes. I think a LPFP and high pressure line drilling is needed.

Just an interesting failures note based on the above stats. It's clear that the OTS tunes have proven the most reliable. I mean they're the most used by far, with the least failures by far.

And it's also obvious that custom tunes have the highest failure rate. I think it's pretty clear why. People going custom are generally at or near FBO. Most are looking to push a good deal more power than they'd get from an OTS tune.

Still, a big portion of all failures fall into the abuse and/or neglect category.

Just curious (I guess I could look, but) how many were on ethanol tunes?

Update:

Vehicle: 2017 Touring Coupe/cvt

Total tuned time: since December 2021

Tuned miles driven: 15,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: Ktuner V2

Tunes used: 19/21 base tune with quick adjustments

Fuel used: Shell 93, always top tier

Additional related mods: PRL Cobra cold intake

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Mostly laid back, easy cruise to work. WOT a few times per week or if someone wants to go.

Tune experience notes: Runs great with the tune just like my 2016 did.

Additional note: car was purchased used with 46,002 miles. Was tuned at 47,150 miles. Currently at 62,250 miles. Just added the PRL cobra cold intake and throttle response seems better and maybe a little more power.

Vehicle: 2016 Civic EX-T sedan, cvt

Total tuned time: 1 day

Tuned miles driven: ~140 miles

Tuning device used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: Ktuner stage 1 base map, stage 2, starter stage 2 with eco set as factory boost level.

Fuel used: 93 octane from Philips 66

Problems/issues: I accidentally selected the wrong ecu in the software when I first flashed the stage 2 tune. realized this as I was driving home today, hitting 1.02 Knock control! pulled over and it still did not come down. Searched on here and it said to drive between 2 and 4 psi so i did so and managed to keep it at .75-.80 for the rest of the drive home. filled up once again with 93 thinking it could have been the issue. When I got home I immediately plugged the laptop in to check the log and nothing seemed too crazy besides Kcon. Flashed the correct 5AA-L58 stage 2 with the eco mode and made a few small pulls to double check everything. golden now!

Driving style: I like to hit the speed limit quickly. I hyper-mile on the way home to make up for my early commute of being 5 minutes late

Tune experience notes: I LOVE IT! It is everything this car was missing in the power department, but my tsp stage 1 tune will be going on tomorrow hopefully. Boost, gotta have it! planning to do an intercooler asap. Then suspension, wheels and tires.

***Update from post #2502 & #3689***

Vehicle: 2020 Civic Sport Hatch 1.5t (CVT)

Total tuned time: 11.5 Months (posting early, hoping to win the contest ;))

Tuned miles driven: 8,500 (22,380)

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: Phearable Stage 1.5 (Map 2, almost exclusively but been tinkering with Map 3 lately)

Fuel used: 93 only.

Additional related mods: None, Stock (well, AEM 28-50044 Dry Flow Air Filter)

Problems/issues: None.

Driving style: I never abuse my cars. In fact, the back of my pedal has no idea what the floor feels like. However, I never waste time getting to or escaping from a Stop sign. Also, I hate being passed on the Highway. I am always in the left lane setting the pace (cautiously). I don't need to do 90 I just feel more comfortable when cars are moving backwards on my right. - been this way for the first 30yrs (driving), not changing anytime soon.

Tuning experience notes: Just do it!
The way this car feels now is how it should have come from the factory. I don't feel like I need any bolt-ons (check back with me when the warranty is up tho). Plenty of GO for my needs. I love the 65 to 95 power I get when I want it!
Using the v1.2 requires me to use TunerView lite so I have the connectivity issues many others report when using Android Auto. I need to make sure that my BT does not connect to the car (AA) before I connect it to TunerView. Otherwise I get the "connecting" message every few seconds. Not the end of the world but I wish the HU would handle multiple BT connections better.
Besides that...Amazing! - Thanks gtman for all you do for this community!

Vehicle: 2019 Civic Sedan 1,5T (EU model, non-SI)

Total tuned time: 2months

Tuned miles driven: 3.000 Km

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V 1.2

Tunes used: Custom tune by a hondas professional tuner (3custom boost curves-map 1@16psi, map2@19psi, map3@custom boost)

Fuel used: 95octane before tuning, 100octane since tuning

Additional related mods: MST-Performance intake, Mishimoto Intercooler/stock pipes, Mishimoto oil catch can

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Everything "by the book"+granma style. Never start before rpm drop at 1k, always under 3k until oil is fully warmed up, never WOTs under 3,5k, letting cool down after pushing, never pushing if IATs are over 40Celsius etc... I usually daily-drive on stock tune and going mostly on map2 for a few part throttle pulls per week. Rarely WOTs, mostly when provoked.

Tune experience notes: Super excited, love the way the car feels and the fact that i have many options. What i didnt expect is that fuel consumption would go up noticeably when cruising on steady/almost steady speeds.

Total tuned time: about 3.25 years

Tuned miles driven: 45,000 +

Tuning device(s) used:
Hondata
Ktuner 1.2V

Tunes used:
Custom tune from redline in Arlington,Tx (hondata)
TSP stage 1 (ktuner)
W1 OTS (ktuner)
W1 custom tune via Drob (ktuner)
W2 w/flex fuel custom tune via Drob (ktuner)

Fuel used:
93 oct
E30

Additional related mods: (current setup)
Prl intercooler plus charge pipes
Prl downpipe and frontpipe
Prl race MAF cobra intake
Prl flex fuel kit
Koyorad radiator
27won W2 drop in turbo
Competition stage 2 with ultra light flywheel
Visual mods and Suspension mods done too
Problems/issues:
Had injector issues @ about 20,000 miles. Not sure if that was due to running the race MAF sensor without a tune for a day as it went into limp mode. Or just failed prematurely as that was an issue with 10th gen civics.
Tsp stage one tune had no issues
27won W1 turbine wheel broke due to overboost. Replaced it with another W1 and the turbine wheel was scraping the housing after a while. (Custom W1 Drob tune)
Custom tune on W2 w/flex fuel no issues

Driving style:
Daily driving to and from work. Some spirited driving late at night. Some aggressive driving here and there sporadically.

Tune experience notes:
Redline tune: Had too much torque lower end causing issues where the turbo would stutter hitting high boost on 1st/2nd gear pulls. Other than that ran smooth.
Tsp stage one: Great responsiveness, good power midrange. Would fall off around 5k rpm and power would be minimal up top.
W1 custom tune: similar to tsp stage one, great response to boost at the lower rpm’s just slightly laggy and would pull to redline with less fall off that tsp. Daily driving was fun and had the power when needed. Unfortunately the turbo failed!
W2 custom tune: way more lag compared to previous tunes up to 4500 rpm’s, past 4500 rpm’s, power keeps going to redline and pushes way more with ethanol
Tunes run great, just really depends on driving habits and choices. No issues, running strong still.
