Vehicle: 2017 Sport Hatchback CVT

Total tuned time: 37 months

Tuned miles driven: 37,373 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner v1.2

Tunes used: KTuner Dual 21psi Basemap with most aggressive quick settings.

Fuel used: 91 (mostly Costco, sometimes other brands)

Additional related mods: aFe Pro Dry S Filter, Greddy Supreme SP Catback Exhaust

Problems/issues: Unsure if tuning was the cause, but the CVT sometimes would lurch/jerk when accelerating at low speeds.

Driving style: 50/50 Casual/Spirited. Streets only.

Tuning experience notes: The added power of the 21psi tune made a noticeable difference. Easily gapped untuned Civics.

Thank you guys for the help, I really appreciate it. I'm going to snag a KTuner tonight, I can't wait to finally tune my Civic! I'll make sure to post my data here after I use it for a bit.

When you say you "hear stuttering" on cold startups, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. You mean when you accelerate when cold or stuttering/rough at idle?
it's most noticeable on a cold start but i can induce it on a semi warm stop with a blip of the gas.
it's rough at idle for a few seconds, it sounds similar to 2 step but at 1200 rpm, if you can imagine such an atrocity. it's less uniform than 2 step tho, it just stutters with a very sporadic rhythm. no clue what it is but it may be nothing, i'm reflashing sometime soon anyways for the phearable 1.5R once my clutch is replaced , how is that tune for you btw?
i wonder if my air filter is somehow full of crud after only 3 months of use ... ?

Are you talking about more of a huffing exhaust sound or the sound in general? Or a true rough idle where your rpm cannot come close to a point of settling (Bouncing enough on the tac to indicate 100 or more around where it should be)

it just sounds different idk i'll try to get a sound clip asap. it wasn't doing it before, but now it is, that must be some indicator of something right? like on cold start, it's supposed to just go grrroummmmmmmmmm but now it sometimes goes grrroububububububububmmmmmmmm like it stutters initially but then settles out

I honestly don't know if that's something to be concerned with or not. Maybe start a new thread on it so you're able to get some more answers/opinions?

Vehicle: 2018 Civic SI coupe

Total tuned time: 1.5 months

Tuned miles driven: ~700 miles

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata Flashpro

Tunes used: Hondata +6 via sport, optimized turbo response, disable rev hang

Fuel used: 93 Ultra

Additional related mods: PRL race CAI, PRL catted down pipe + Front pipe

Problems/issues: None so far

Driving style: Normally conservative with periodic spirited driving but since doing the tune and some bolt ons have been driving a bit more aggressive.

Tuning experience notes: This is my first time tuning and/or working on a car. Just put the Downpipe+front pipe on yesterday.

UPDATE

Vehicle: Hatchback Sport 2019 (6MT)

Total tuned time: ≈ 1 year

Total tuned mileage: ≈ 20 000 km (12 427.42 miles)

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner v1.2

Tunes used:
  • Phearable 1.5 NON-SI (Current)
  • TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: Petro-Canada 94

Additional engine mods:
  • K&N air intake,
  • Mishimoto intercooler

Problems/issues: None, everything is running great!

Driving style: Speedy grandma. I spend most of my time in map 1 and sometimes map 2 (when going into the highway).

Tuning experience notes: This is the first car that I bought new, before that I had an old 2009 Chevrolet Aveo so that’s a big upgrade for me. I never tuned cars before, so I read a lot before tuning this one and I have to say that it is not complicated once you understand how everything works.

UPDATE

Vehicle: Hatchback Sport 2019 (6MT)

Total tuned time: ≈ 1.5 year

Total tuned mileage: ≈ 25 000 km (15 534.28 miles)

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner v1.2

Tunes used:
  • Phearable 1.5 NON-SI (Current)
  • TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: Petro-Canada 94

Additional engine mods:
  • K&N air intake,
  • Mishimoto intercooler

Problems/issues: Clutch started slipping in map 3 not that long ago. I'll probably change it with competition clutch kit with the kzcmc but I'm still not sure what to do.

Driving style: Speedy grandma. I spend most of my time in map 1 and sometimes map 2 (when going into the highway).

Tuning experience notes: N/A

It may be that many CTR owners bought them and leave them alone. Let's face it, the rest of us are basically playing catch up through tuning and bolt ons.

I personally enjoy turning a basic economy car into something sportier than just buying an out of the box race car. God knows the money it takes to push these could've covered the cost of a CTR by the time you get done playing!

Nah. You probably haven't followed my posts regarding this thread and how I try to get people on board. I only private message owners who have posted about their car being tuned and ask them to join in. So 100% of the R owners I message are tuned. I have, by far, the highest rejection rate from Type R owners.

On another more positive note, kind of a milestone today. 200 pages and going strong.

I know you PM a bunch of people but I wasn't aware of number of CTR owners you'd hit up. Still, I find this thread incredibly useful and you do a great job staying on top of it! Thanks!

Vehicle: 2019 Civic Type R

Total tuned time: 16 months

Tuned miles driven: 25,000

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata Race Flashpro

Tunes used: Hondata basemaps only as of now.

91 improved throttle response

93 improved throttle response

Then I did the 93 + downpipe and then
Dp + intercooler as I installed the parts.

Fuel used: 93 is pretty much everywhere near me so that’s my only preference.

Additional related mods: PRL inlet pipe, Mishimoto intake, intercooler and pipes, RV6 catted downpipe, Thermal R&D exhaust (includes front pipe)

Problems/issues: Zero

Driving style: Spirited no track yet but hope to soon since it likes when I get it wide open. I push it for sure.

Tuning experience notes: I have no prior tuning experience, I also am not planning on doing my own tunes or edits. I don’t know enough about it to try it plus in most cases I’m sure it’s minimal.
