Update:

Vehicle: 2021 Civic Sport CVT

Total tuned time: 3 and a half months

Tuned miles driven: about 5000 now.

Tuning device(s) used: Ktuner V2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1/Phearable 1.5

Fuel used: 92 is the highest here

Additional related mods: PRL Stage 1 intake

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Grandma to save gas, will punch it if I get provoked or someone trying cut me off.

Tuning experience notes: I just did my oil change myself today. Used GTX Castrol 0w20 and felt good having an oil change on this car. I switch between TSP and Phearable. Being called out by 4 bangers to V6 is kinda annoying but I only run them if it's safe. I still make Mustang drivers cry and hurt their ego. Might go for intercooler next.
You should give motul 100% synthetic a go

Vehicle: 2020 Civic Type R

Total tuned time: 7 months

Tuned miles driven: 1200

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata Flashpro

Tunes used: Hondata basemaps and phearable stage 2

Fuel used: Shell 93 ONLY

Additional related mods: PRL hvi, prl fmic and charge pipes, hks exhaust with stock down pipe and stock front pipe.

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Mostly cruising but any chance I get I open it up

Tuning experience notes: I bought the type r brand new and didn’t really want to do anything to it for awhile but it was just too damn quiet I needed some noise. I put all the parts and tune on at 1700 miles. The hondata basemaps were ok but the phearable stage 2 tune is amazing. I only drive the car on weekends but when I do I can’t stop smiling ?

Vehicle: 2019 Civic Sport Touring Hatchback

Total tuned time: 18 Months

Tuned miles driven: 25,000 miles approx

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2.

Tunes used: KTuner dual base maps, (17, 19 & 21 PSI were my settings) then moved on to TSP Stage 1.

Fuel used: Shell 93 / Sunoco 91

Additional related mods: Afe Power drop in & then 27Won Intake.

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Mostly normal with spirited driving here & there. Rarely WOT.

Tuning experience notes: This is my first time tuning myself from home. Pretty impressed with what KTuner can do. Super simple to tweak settings on the base maps and the increase in power was pretty substantial for a little 1.5 4 banger. CVT held up really well and I always felt the car could handle more. From a complete novice, I was able to become more comfortable with changing the maps and then helping others get a better feel for their cars based on my experiences.

Quick update:
I’m at about 1200 miles on the 1.5R tune and still enjoying it a lot. I purchased a Flex Fuel Kit but the company I bought it from has been a nightmare to deal with so I haven’t been able to install it.

Problems/Issues update:
Something within my exhaust has broken off and is rattling around in my left muffler. I’m assuming it’s part of the exhaust baffling. Since the exhaust is stock, I’m hoping it’ll be replaced under warranty. I would be a little surprised if the tune was the sole cause, but I could see it contributing to the failure.
I plan on writing a longer form review here about the 2.5 tune, but I figured it’d be good to make a brief update.

Exhaust issue ended up being unrelated, so no issues so far. Im at ~1000 miles on the 2.5 tune, and the peak power numbers really don’t do it justice. I spend most of my time on the 24psi map since it’s too hot out to make peak boost on the 27psi map. Im not too worried about reliability issues based on my data logs, and no clutch slip so far.

Zac ... thanks for adding your car.

That's a very conservative tune Derek did on you car considering the FBO's. But considering the slightly weaker hatch rods and CVT, a very smart setup.

Really nice choice of performance mods.

vehicle: 2018 EXT sedan 6spd

total tuned time: 3 months

total tuned miles: 4,000 miles driving tuned. Car currently has 33k miles odometer

tuning device: ktuner V2

tunes used: phearable 1.5

fuel used: 93 octane Sunoco

engine mods: stock. doing a honeycomb grill soon is that considered a mod? And not just cosmetic

problems/issues: none

driving style: almost always doing the speed limit around town but with some Quick burst of acceleration 2 or 3 times daily, I try not to go over the speed limit to much. Highway 70-80 mph average. My commute is 50 highway 50 city. I like to keep the rpm around 2,500 while cruising. I almost always rev match my shifts. No clutch slippage yet. Don't launch the car from a dig just roll into full throttle past 3k. My car has been on map 2 78% of the time, 2% on map 3, the remaining 20% just before I need to do an oil change I leave it on map 1 to give my car a break. my oil change intervals will be 5,000 miles.

Adding even a bit of cooling is a good thing.

Thanks!

Yeah I mentioned it to him to go a bit conservative given what I have. I do plan on either upgrading rods and heads or just getting the built L15B7 from TwoStep. Either one of those options are a must have before I go with the PRL big turbo (which I’m currently saving for).

UPDATE 06.30.21

Vehicle
: 2016 Civic EX-T sedan

Total tuned time: 53months

Total tuned mileage: 101,000miles

Tuning device(s) used:
Hondata Flashpro, currently using KTuner V2

Tunes used: Hondata +6, KTuner Starter 21, Vit 93 octane, Vit E30, TSP Stage 1 for non-Si (current)

Fuel used: Chevron 93 & Kroger e85 when running ethanol

Additional engine mods: AF Dynamic SRI, K&N Filter

Problems/issues: CVT Started getting trippy and slipping at 25k miles on Hondata. Switched to Ktuner did a custom ethanol tune and shot it to the moon. Got a new CVT under warranty. Been tuned with Ktuner now for 70k miles on the new CVT with no issues.

Driving style: Beat the hell out of it, also cruise, taken 2600 mile road trips, a little bit of everything. With the pandemic I have not driven as much so I only put about 8-9k miles in the last year. Still rolling with the same tunes. Switch between them all just to goof around

Tuning experience notes : Helped tons of people flash and setup basemaps.

Additional notes: Just finished a 10 day RT from DFW through the south to Gulf Shores AL. 1700 miles and averaged 33.3 mpg on TSP 1 in the fun Map 3!
New CVT under warranty did you put back to stock? Your a beast.

UPDATE
Vehicle: 2018 Civic Si

Total tuned time: 10 months

Tuned miles driven: 15,000 +

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: Phearable Stage 1.5

Fuel used: Costco 93 Octane ( almost exclusively)

Additional related mods: N/A

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: I drove mostly highway miles prior to the pandemic. Now that I work from home, I mostly carve up rural back roads.

Tuning experience notes: I have nothing but positive things to say. I drive in Level 1 98% of the time which is plenty for me. Makes the car extremely more fun to drive, without compromising reliability.

That's the point I try to make to people who say you should never tune if you want reliability. Those lower power maps from Phearable and TSP make for great daily driving without putting much stress on the drivetrain

You just gave me my list of mods for my cvt civic since I’ve been researching what to do and not easy with the exhaust I have since I don’t have the hdmi center exhaust. Will probably have to get a custom one. I wanna wait till my factory warranty is up. Love the car!
