@the_civic glad to see you’ve been tuned that long without any issues!
I wonder if the 2018 si sedan clutches seem to do better, not sure if @gtman has a break down of which years had clutch slippages..

Also sweet looking engine bay! Big fan of the wrinkle red been thinking about doing that to mine or at least buying a new one and doing it that way to reduce the downtime.
when you installed the PRL Inlet pipe did you notice any increase/difference?
Ive been contemplating going for that next.

It would be hard to quantify clutch slippage because not everyone mentions that when they post. I can tell you that about 17% of tuned owners have upgraded their clutch. Of course most of those were people just upgrading and not replacing their clutch due to any actual issue.

Thanks man!… just wanted to make sure to do my part and update my original post (and not change any of the original figures… lol) now that I added the inlet pipe… As always, appreciate you taking the time to do all this for the community! ?

@Los1391 thankfully I haven’t had any issues with my clutch, but I’m also very cognizant of the fact that our stock clutches are terrible, so I try my best to make sure I’m not doing anything to help prematurely wear it down.

As for the inlet pipe, I can’t say I felt any significant power increase, however there was definitely a difference in the sound… obviously the increased air intake has helped amplify the turbo induction noise and the “blowoff” has also gotten… deeper? hard to describe it really, but the best analogy I could think of, is that it’s gone from a “sneeze” to a “cough”… lol… I knew this upgrade wouldn’t give me much power (with the stock turbo)… that wasn’t the point, this was meant more for my future turbo upgrade (and it didn’t hurt to help clean up the engine bay… ?). Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1 Tune (Map 3)

Fuel used: Shell V-Power Nitro+ 93 octane (exclusively)

Additional related mods: PRL “Cobra” Cold Air Intake (Race MAF) / Injen FMIC / Mishimoto Oil Catch Can

:::NEWEST RELATED MODS SINCE PREVIOUS UPDATE::: : PRL Titanium Inlet Pipe ( ~600 miles) / Radium Coolant Expansion Tank

Problems/issues: Thankfully STILL none

Love that painted valve cover! Very nice looking engine bay!

Vehicle: 2020 sport hatch CVT
Total Tuned time: 2 days
Total tuned milage: 25 miles
Tuning device: Ktuner V2
Tunes used: Base tune 15psi
Modes: Bone stock
Problems/issues: None. It's winter here, so the roads are snow covered. Thought it would be pointless to go over 15 psi with mushy snow tires. Even though it's just a base tune, I do notice better acceleration.

Gasoline: Petro Canada 91 octane.

Driving style: Mostly relaxed with a few stints of hard pulls.

Vehicle: 2017 Civic EX-T Sedan

Total Tuned Time: 3 months

Tuned Miles Driven: ~2,500 miles
tuned @ 83,000 miles
currently @ 85,300 miles

Tuning Device: KTuner 1.2 with TunerView via HondaHack

Tunes used: KTuner Starter Dual 21; TSP Stage 1

Fuel Used: Exxon/Mobile 91+ (only)

Additional Related Mods: PRL Intake Hose + PRL Filter

Problems/Issues: None

Driving Style: Reserved, aside from highway entrances and passing on occasion. Feels like a monster when I hit the pedal though :confused1: unbelievable.

Tuned Experience Notes: Never tuned a vehicle before, but I did a fair amount of research before going with the KTuner 1.2. I've also had my Civic since mile one and haven't had any mechanical issues. Basically kept up whatever maintenance the computer alerts me to do and I use a Techron fuel cleaner every 10k. Anyway, on the tune: it's amazing. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. It pulls like nothing I've ever driven before, and I keep it in Drive.

Questions:
1.
I've scoured KTuner's website, but I'm unsure how to tell just how much horsepower my car makes now. Stock was 174hp, but with the current setup does anyone have an estimate?

2. I initially limited myself to Econ for daily driving, but for some reason the fuel efficiency was lower than when Econ was off. Maybe I changed something incorrectly during the tune? I've gotten used to the pedal now and average about 34mpg, which is great. It's also 20 degrees in New York, so that might be an issue. Anyone have any thoughts?

I surprisingly don't have a lot of pictures of my car (Sven), but here's one!

Lastly, thanks gtman for this wealth of information.

Thanks for adding you car and the props on this thread.

1. The TSP 1 dyno shows 219 WHP and huge torque gains over stock.

2. I never have gotten good mpgs in ECO. Throttle response is duller so you tend to press the throttle harder to keep up which defeats the ECO part. lol

And yes, super cold weather and winter gas lowers economy.

Side note: Like I try to explain to people, waiting so long to tune will have you doing this:

219hp?! My first car didn’t make that much power with a V6 (2000 Impala 3.8). I’m so glad I bought a Honda Civic.

Also comforting to know that the Econ has become useless and I’m not crazy. Good for valet mode, although I rarely like to let other people drive my car.

who-dang. that’s a serious gain in power.

I need to amend this. Dated 2.2.22

Vehicle: 2018 Civic Si - Coupe'

Total tuned time: 1.5 Years

Tuned miles driven: 6,000

Tuning device(s) used: Ktuner V2. Flipped from the V1.2 over the summer.

Tunes used: TSP 1 and then 1.5 but currently on Phearable 2.5

Fuel used: 93 with 35% E85 mix since adding FF Kit

Additional related mods: Suspension mods. Just ordered the new RV6 Flywheel and Exedy Clutch kit.

Problems/issues: Almost zero issues! None that weren't my own fault. Mostly lack of knowledge on Ktuner. PUT A ROD THROUGH THE LOWER BLOCK ON 1/22/22. NO REAL REASON. DRIVING 30 MPH ON AN OFF RAMP IN 3RD GEAR AND NOT ON THE THROTTLE. ORDERING TSP BLOCK AND ABOUT $11,000 IN OTHER STUFF.

Driving style: Very low miles per year. One or two pulls a month.

Tune experience notes: Once the new clutch goes in, I am replacing the sway bar and doing a BBK. Then replacing the OEM turbo with the RV6 turbo and this build will be complete! Time to track it for a while!

Total tuned time: 6 months

Tuned miles driven: 1500

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata

Tunes used: 93oct, Eventuri Intake, Improve throttle response

Fuel used: 93oct

Additional related mods: Mishimoto PCV catch can, ARK DT-S exhaust, and Eventuri Intake.

Problems/issues: None yet, notice some spikes in S.trim values every so often, but been told nothing to be too worried about.

Driving style: Mostly mildly aggressive, usually do a WOT pull at least once, take bendy roads fast, etc.

Tune experience notes: Good experience, hondata is very user friendly.

Vehicle: 2016 Civic EX-T Sedan CVT

Total tuned time: ~18 months

Tuned miles driven: ~12700 miles; total miles: ~59k

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: mostly TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: mostly Costco 91, been experimenting mixing 3 gallons of 100 octane with 91 octane to make 93. Noticeably better but not economical

Additional related mods: FBO. PRL CAI, PRL Intercooler, Koyorad radiator, PRL Catted DP/FP, Injen dual exhaust

Problems/issues: Less gas mileage. Pre tune I was averaging 35-40mpg and now it’s around 32-34mpg. Unrelated to tune, but I failed smog once because I had too many sensors disabled on the tune due to my DP

Driving style: WOT occasionally, not a lot of driving this last year due to WFH/covid, 75-80mph

Tuning experience notes: Do it
