With the Si, I have yet to play with the KTuner since I have no other supporting mods, and based on how good the TSP maps are out of the box, I feel there really is no need. As with others, I'm worried about the clutch beginning to slip...
One easy adjustment to do would be to use Quick BBG and limit peak boost in the lower gears.

Vehicle: 2018 Honda EX-T Hatchback CVT

Total tuned time: 2.5 years

Total tuned mileage: 27100 miles

Tuning device(s): KTuner v1, Ktuner V2

Tunes used: Ktuner Stage 2, TSP Stage 1, Custom Tunes

Fuel used: 92-93 Octane, Boostane

Additional engine mods: Myxal SRI-CAI (PRL Race Maf, S&B Air Filter, 27Won Turbo Inlet PIpe, Utilizing PRL Cobra CAI PIping), Si Turbo, Depo Racing Intercooler and Pipes, 3" PRL Catted Downpipe, Custom Tune

Problems/issues: None **Until recently**

Driving style: Speed Limit City/Highway 95%, 4% Dragstrip, 1% Datalogging Wide open throttle

Tuning experience notes: Absolutely great experience with zero issues from the tuner or the car. However, I blew my engine a couple days ago testing what I should not have been testing. Was testing a race gas tune with non-race gas in the car. Was trouble shooting why on map 1 and map 2 I was only getting 17psi. Figured I must've loaded the wrong tune (which I did). Switched to map 3, which was for race gas, but it was too aggressive for non-race gas. Starting at about 4800rpm, ran wide open throttle and somewhere between 4800rpm-5500rpm, the engine went POOF. Found a piece of connecting rod on bottom of engine with oil everywhere. I'll admit it felt like a Hellcat for a few seconds. o_O :p Engine currently being torn apart for analysis and rebuild at race shop. To be continued!

Notes/Advice:
1) Always practice safety,
2) When running hard, ALWAYS make sure the car is running 100% before you do.
3) Even while trouble shooting, take baby steps while ramping up power,
4) Never make an assumption on what tuning maps you are running on. Know 100% what you have uploaded and be sure you have the proper fuel(s) to support those maps at ALL times.
5) Even if you have a custom tune with a map for higher octane fuel, do not load it up unless you are running that fuel. Switch to a TSP Stage 1, Ktuner Stage 2 or custom tune that have all three maps for the octane you are running on. Don't put yourself in that situation, period.

I know better. After 20+ years of modding and tuning, sometimes cockiness and complacency can get the best of you.

@gtman Earlier this year I have been running on the wrong tune all this time. Good news is I was hittnig the mid to high 13s on only 17psi of boost. It was a combination of not only hooking the KTuner V2 up at the wrong time (Which caused maps to switch around) but having the wrong tune loaded as well. That's the problem with having multiple custom tune maps on your computer. I'll be back to kick some arse in due time.

Forgot to mention, I’ve been on E85 for about 5000 miles. I’ve been peaking my turbo around 26.5PSI ??. Even with a +6??? I don’t get it but No trouble yet. Knock on wood

Thanks! Some good things may come out of it though. I'm trying to take advantage of this mishap and turn it into a great opportunity. I wouldn't have been doing a 'rebuild' otherwise. ;) Pretty excited about it. Only looking to change one or two things, nothing fancy. The $$$ may hurt though. I was just about to dump some $$$ into my RAV4 for a cool ECU upgrade I've been discussing with a race shop. *sigh*

I'm always game for learning something new.

04/01/2020
400 miles.

*Was at 400 miles when I first posted the miles tuned. *

Tuning Device Used: KTuner V2.

Tunes & Settings Used: *Update 05/14/2020* [PRIMARY & Current TSP Stage 1 street]
[Previous Tune Starter ~ Base/23.5] (Throttle Response 1. 2-STEP SETUP @ 3950k-4000k-No Rev hang)

Fuel Used: 93 Only.

Additional Engine Mods:
K&N Typhoon short ram heat shielded(Hot air intake??)(awesome for noise though!)
Problems/Issues:
*Update* 05/28/2020 (Same rare issue)Jerky throttle is more related to a limp throttle. Associated with large some knock counts maybe missfire?
*Update 05/14/2020* TSP stage 1 - Rare issue, but it seems to give me some jerky thottle respones every so often. Also, im running super rich. After 2-3 70mph pulls, my exhaust smells like fireworks. Elevation is at 544. Ive noticed that I get a lot more knock counts(like some times in 10 minutes 30+),and an occasional rise in knock control. Usually to 0.52-0.54.
I will start looking for better fuel in town.

Any chance of you documenting some more details of what may have led to the engine issues? When I see the amount of bolts ons you had, the lack of a custom tune is a red flag. It sounds like there is way more to this story. I've dealt with many of these "I was idling at Taco Bell and boom" stories to know better.

I literally started my car at 1400 to go get my son and I lunch at Taco Bell(maybe 2.5-3 miles from my house), and while idling in the drive through the car started to choke itself, so it seemed... i gave a little gas to see if it would pick back up and then looked in my mirror when it didn't so i could pull into a parking spot, and a plume of smoke came out of the exhaust. I had it towed home and when I pulled the plugs cylinder #4 was full of coolant almost into the spark plug well. Also, the lack of custom tune is in direct correlation with the engine blown at 54k miles. It was at +9 custom tune, so I thought I'd play it a little safer with PRL map.

I always am trying to see why some of these cars are 100% reliable and a handful blow. In most cases we've found there was some prior abuse that wore down internals. I'm not saying you abused your car, just trying to document stuff as best we can.

Thanks for adding your info to the survey and sorry for your the issues you're having.

The motor that I'm about to tear down to see the extent of the damage from Friday, was a used engine 19k miles on it. Also, engine that was blown at 54k miles was original however I bought the car with 36k miles so also used when I got it. For general information this vehicle has its oil change every 2500-3000 miles royal purple oil and filter, coolant is checked daily- genuine honda coolant, trans fluid is honda aswell. Air filter is cleaned every oil change, cabin filter every 2 to 3.
