Vehicle: 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback LX 6MT (Canada)

Total tuned time: 3 years

Total tuned mileage: 35,000 km (approximately)

Current mileage: 36,455 km

Tune used: Hondata +6/+9 Psi Basemaps
Just purchased KTuner V2 w/ TSP Stage 1... planning to try this setup and compare to Hondata basemaps

Additional engine mods: Injen SRI for 2 years, now removed and sold (switching to PRL Cobra Race MAF), ProDrager Hyperflow Catback (since August 2019), PRL Catted DP/FP (since January 2020)

Problems/Issues: No major problems - car went into limp mode on one second gear pull a couple years back but that's it (pulled over, turned car off and back on, everything normal again)

Fuel Used: 91 Octane (best available locally)

Driving style: Aggressive and more spirited driving when i'm in the mood for it or the road is open. Otherwise mostly normal cruising.

Switching from the Injen intake to the PRL Cobra is a good move, not only in terms of performance, but long term reliability and peace of mind.

Vehicle: 2018 Civic EX Hatch

Total tuned time: 3 months

Total tuned mileage: 2,500-3,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: Mobil 93 Ultra or Costco 93

Additional engine mods: PRL Cobra CAI (street)

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Slightly speedy with aggressive bursts from time to time. Usually let it loose to about 120-130+ every so often, but usually keep my commute between 75-90.

Tuning experience notes: This is my first time tuning and I've learned almost all of my information regarding the tune from here. Tuning my civic was the best decision and made the car so much more enjoyable to drive.

Interesting. I, too, used the Hondata flash--+9 psi.

My driving is primarily highway (long trips). My car has been on a track twice, albeit for short times (total track mileage estimate: 50 miles).

On my street driving I very rarely engage the +9 psi tune (sport mode off). My normal driving mode is slightly faster than posted limits (traffic permitting) with very occasional bursts of 2nd/3rd gear acceleration, just for grins.

I installed the Hondata Flash Pro about 40,000 miles ago and have had absolutely no problems (so far).

I burn Shell or BP 91 or 93 octane subject to availability.

Vehicle: 2018 Sport Hatch Manual

Total tuned time: 12+ months

Total tuned mileage: 10,000+ miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner v2

Tunes used: Dual calibration, daily is a slightly less aggressive 18psi tune with boost by gear, improved boost ramp 1, improved throttle 1 and rev hang delete. Second tune is a slightly more aggressive 21psi and ramp/throttle II. Third is all stock. Honestly the throttle response is a huge difference in itself.

Fuel used: Arco 91

Additional mods: PRL Cobra w/ street maf housing, driver side vent cutout, ctr shifter and acuity base bushings.

Problems/issues: Heater fan module in the dash resonates at 2k rpm. Ambient temperature directly impacts hp for this car and it definitely could benefit from a larger intercooler. Crazy vibration inside when launching due to wheel hop, I hear a rear motor mount can fix this.

Driving style: 26mpg City/45mpg hwy with spirited driving at times.

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: KTuner OTS Factory Normal/23 Sport

Fuel used: Exclusively Exxon 93 octane

Additional engine mods: PRL Cobra CAI Street MAF

Problems/issues: None.

Driving style: Most of my miles are cruising at highway speeds (60-70mph) which allows me to get amazing fuel economy (mid 40-50mpg hwy) as I do a lot of driving (25k+ yearly due to a long commute for work).

That being said, I bought an Si because I like to have fun when I drive so that means there are times when I get on it. This might include WOT highway runs and back road blasts. When I'm not driving back and forth to work, my MPGs drop to mid to low 30's and some times, even high 20's.

I'm surprised this motor still gets AMAZING fuel economy while tuned.

KTuner V2

Tunes used: KTuner 19&21psi. TSP Stage 1

Additional engine mods: PRL short ram Street MAF, mishimoto catch can

Problems/issues: None.

Driving style: I drive like a 40 yr old dad with car seats because thats what I am. Normally shifting around 4k rpm and not far over speed limits most of the time. Occasional pulls but nothing dramatic.

I love the swoosh of the short ram and will likely be installing an exhaust by end of summer because I like the noise. Gas mileage has remianed the same.

Total tuned time: Just over 1 year

Total tuned mileage: 25,000+ Miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1 and now Phearable

Fuel Used: Shell 93, Wawa 93, QuickChek 93. Never less than 93!

Additional engine mods: PRL Cobra Street MAF

Problems/issues: None.

Fuel Used: Shell 93, Wawa 93, QuickChek 93. Never less than 93!

Driving style: Mostly a commuter car. I do maybe 5-10 pulls a week on Map 3 TSP, and a good amount of spirited driving.

Tuning experience notes: When I’m using either Phearable or TSP, I leave it on map 1 when I’m commuting, and switch over to map 3 + sport mode anytime I do pulls. The car feels so responsive on both tunes. I’d have to give it up to Phearable for feeling a bit faster. I love how much of a difference these tunes make on the car.

Guys, thanks for the recent additions to the survey. Just do me a favor if possible. Don't forget to add the fuel type you use. Appreciate it.

Any chance you can share some stats on E85 usage and % of failures associated with the fuel type?

TIA

Too small of a sample so far to be definite. But clearly it can potentially cause issues. The main issue being folks using it sometimes tune for too much power and that's when problems happen. And of course the fact that using too high of an ethanol blend can be bad for the injectors over time.

I've been seeing many more members here at CivicX getting tuned so hopefully more will jump into our survey. It's easy to do and really helps the community.

As a reminder, here's the format and the 10 items you need to fill out.

Total tuned mileage:

Tuning device(s) used:

Tuning experience notes:

Make sure you post your tuning experience notes because it's another thing that really adds to the overall importance of the survey.

Vehicle: 2019 Si Sedan

Total Tuned Time: 3 months

Total Tuned Mileage:
~ 3000 miles

Tuning Device(s) Used: Hondata Flashpro

Tune(s) Used: TSP Stage 1 , PowerMetrics Stage 1.

Fuel Used: 93 octane

Additional Engine Mods: PRL short ram intake with weapon r secret weapon filter. I damaged the prl filter when installing it and bent it up and slightly crushed it. Don't ask.

Driving Style: Short trips to and from work about 8 miles a day, other side not lots of driving. Slightly aggressive and a few small bursts of boost through 2nd and 3rd when on the highway. Usually always in sports mode with the MAP 3 always in place.

Problems/issues: Not sure what it is exactly I don't think it's the clutch slipping but around 5400 rpm the fuel seems to cut out and the car just bogs down. TSP reported it's either my clutch position sensor or my foot is slightly pressing the clutch activating the FTS. Still testing this theory out to see if that's the case.

Tuning Experience: First time tuning on the Honda Civic platform, and on the 1.5T engine too.

Today I switched to PowerMetrics feel more comfortable that they only deal with Hondata. Just uploaded tonight so I'll post updates this week.
