Interesting. Sounds like you have it dialed in. Good luck on your quest!

I do a mix now, start with AC to cool the cabin out and then turn it off after 5mins while I get a few blocks away from work. I then drive with no AC and windows cracked about 3 inches for wind flow and just HVAC on Lo at 4 fan speed. Very minimal drag in this setting. I keep the moonroof and visor closed because it blocks the sun overhead.

When I ran AC, since I just had the warranty replacement done on the condenser, it was about 1mpg less.

I did it! I drove 500 miles on a single tank of fuel. That equates to 44.3mpg on a car that Honda and the EPA said will get 38mpg max lol.

I hypermile on my daily commutes, which yes I understand is absurd to do while owning a Si lol.

So I have posted before about how great my mpg is, averaging 44mpg usually. I am now deciding that I would love to hit the 500 miles mark while only using <11 gallons of fuel. I usually drive about 250-420 miles before filling up, based on my commutes and times especially for work.

My daily work commute is 52 miles, consisting of about 10 stop signs, no lights, and 95% country roads. The average speed is 55mph, and I usually set cruise at 57mph. Outside of my work commute, I don't usually go into town mainly because of the COVID. However I still drive easy when I do go into town for food or goods.

My driving style is mainly 30% throttle on acceleration, shifting usually between 2000-2500rpms, engine braking for stops and engaging the clutch around 800rpms to keep it from dying.

I also daily the TSP1 tune, because I have found out that my driving style has increased 2mpg compared to stock tune. Last summer I was getting about 42-44mpg on that stock tune, and with TSP1 it averages 44-46mpg. I believe it is due to the way that Derek has modified the fuel delivery and turbo in the tune. The boost is usually 10psi at the time of my shifts.

My mods are listed in my sig, but mainly it is just the PRL Cobra street and TSP1 tune.

I wonder if Derek has a tune for pure gas efficiency. I know a major mpg tune would greatly help the car reach that 500 mark. The highest miles that i have reached on a single tank was 470, but this was also during the stock tune. Lately the car has been displaying 505miles left to empty right after a fill up.

So, lets have some [green] fun!

EDIT: I achieved the goal! Check out page 3 for the pics.

Wow! Congrats!

I too have TSP stage 1 tune, what map are you using, are you in sport or normal mode? I have been trying to figure out what gas/tmap tune will get me the highest MPG on road trips.

Wow. I have no idea how y'all are getting such good mileage.

I have a 2020 sedan with TSP stage 1, PRL stage 1 intake and otherwise completely stock. I only fill with 93 unleaded and the highest mileage I can get is 35-38 on the highway doing 75-85mph.

I was on Map3, the actual TSP1 tune but ran normal without Sport on.

I never went over 55mph on that tank. Also, it was all country roads and no interstate. There was very little city driving, maybe 5% consisting of stop lights thru towns.

I couldn't help but notice that all of you previous trips are in the mid-high 200s range. Would this be the glitch that I have in my head unit? I can go 350-400 miles before filling up and for a week or so it will be correct as the 1st Previous trip. But then it will drop to the 200 range for no reason. I mentioned it in another thread and no one else had ever heard of this. Am I not alone?

I unplugged my battery to work on my headlights, so it probably didnt save the previous 400+ trips. Also, that low 233/40.4mpg was from 6 weeks ago and I fill up weekly for work.

Congrats. I knew it would do it... but I figured it would take keeping your speed between 45-55 mph with minimal stopping. I can easily push my tank averages in the high 30s/low 40s if I try... but usually am settled in the mid-30s with a lot of stop and go from my normal commute and WOT fun. Considering how close our ratios are and how low 6th is... it's impressive how good our cars do. I would have been happier with an extra-tall 6th. The CVTs appear to be able to spin the engines a decent amount slower at speed.

This is 99% highway with the cruise control set at 65. I really think I could have pushed to 600 if I'd have carried a little gallon tank of gas with me just in case. :D

Sport Hatch. Didn't realize this was in the Si forum as I always just look at new posts.

I got 421 miles from full until the warning yesterday on my trip and actually sat in traffic for 30 min as well.. This was driving 98% highway at various speeds from 65-80 MPH hit 110 a couple of times downhill. But I would say the avg is 75MPH. I could easily get over 500 if I cruised at 60-65.
