My best chance is doing a track night, I’ll be going to the PBIR event down here on the 29th. Since it’s at night and small course it may turn out well for ya.
Yeah im hoping so. well see what goes down.

Contemplating doing an SCCA Track Night in America at a small course about 45 minutes away from me on Wednesday, but the 90 degree high and 46% humidity has me second guessing myself..

Ive since had my Koyo + Acuity setup installed but I dont think its going to make a huge impact. Ill definitely regret paying $170 if I cant run that much..

Gates open at 230, with my run group at 4:40 if I register.
Is this at DCTC? I just ran yesterday with the same cooling setup in 85* temps, car did fine until the 3rd session when it hit about 3/4 temp. Still ran faster than most in my group ??‍♂

Yes, when I ran it was probably 95 degrees out so I expect similar results, I don't think the koyo will do much for me.

By the end of the day I could only get 1 run in and I'd need to cool down it was horrible

For sure, hoping Impulse does another next mo. Though I might need tires if I decide to do proving grounds too ?

I saw someone post that it was the last impulse... I hope they do an october one. I believe Chong said September isnt happening because of PG2.

I did a TNiA last night in my R. Totally stock except tires. The LogR crapped out on my 3rd session (which was fastest, but coolest temps). With the heat on high (blowing out windows, windows down) I saw a high water temp of 215*. The weather was perfect though, not humid and about 80*F. I'm certainly not the fastest driver, and it was my first time there in about 5 years.

Nice capture, was the camera mounted on dome light? Good tip on the heater and windows down.

Yep, mounted on dome light. Not sure I'd trust it with a big GoPro, but I have the Session5 which is the smaller cube. Usually I flip the mirror up for better view, but need it on track (and don't need it for autox).

Love the new subsection! Here's my 2017 FK8

Honda Civic 10th gen **The FK8 Track Junkie Thread!!** 236098191_10165489625235301_1894688879197962889_n_LI

I did one track day in stock form and it lasted all of three laps before the brakes cooked and it overheated. But it was a blast! One of the first things I did was swap out the 20's for 18's after reading about the sidewall damage from track use and just general tyre selection. Did another track day and was really pleased with the grip on new Nexen Sur4G's which strike a really good balance between street and track. I chose a Koya SF03 18x9, which is a semi forged rim but around the same price of a non-forged Rays and locally sourced, so they are fairly light weight and can be replaced easily when bashed on the track. However, the brakes still held me back. Since we've been in lockdown in Australia I've been itching to get back out there so I've done some mods in the meantime to keep me sane:
  • Koya SF03 18x9 rims
  • Nexen Sur4G 255/35
  • PWR Radiator
  • Goodridge Braided Brake Lines
  • pMu Type NS rear pads
  • Endless MX72 front pads
  • DBA T2 front rotors (stock rotors had warped at 12,000kms)
  • Endless RF650 brake fluid

Really looking forward to learning this car and getting lots of seat time. I have lots of future plans like Motec etc, but I think there's a huge chunk of lap times that can be reduced first before modifying further. I mostly want to go out and not be limited by overheating or shit breaking, which is why I went with a Honda in the first place!

Cheers

Does anyone know the stock ride height measurements (from bottom of fender lip to center of the axle)? I'm lowered on coilovers now, but forgot to take measurements. I know that lowering too much can cause geometry issues, so I'd really like to be pretty close to stock, with some rear rake for rotation.

Thanks

There are so many Endless pad compounds that I get lost just looking at them.

I have used DBA brake rotors in the past with good success. They are generally a better design than OEM. Interesting that in Canada I would buy rotors from Australia.

The Mx72 is supposed to be the street/track mix compound. Haven't tested them on the track yet but they pull up ok cold and no noise so far. Will report back after a track day
