So...

2 liters, 13:1 compression and only 169 horsepower? Is it extremely fuel efficient at least? Sounds extremely underwhelming. With that kind of compression ratio, which clearly calls for 91/93 octane... feels like something's missing here. I'm not paying for premium fuel for 169 hp lol

I guess it could give buyers looking at EX trims or the Sedan Sport trim another option?

It's missing a turbo, that's what ;)

Forget about the Apex. The AWD Corolla Sport GRMN manual which packs 268 hp is the one to watch out for. There's a performance gap between the Si and Type R and Toyota is aiming straight at it. Those who don't want a Hyundai (Veloster N) or pay the Type R tax but want a bit more power than an Si, $30K seals the deal. End of 2021 or early 2022 release.

A 3-banger turbo with Toyota reliability that packs 268 hp? Honda needs to respond by adding an SiR in the lineup to compete, really.

Some odd details but it's certainly sporty looking. At least next year it'll probably have AWD and a turbo, and then it'll be worth looking at (and then still buying something else).
