I'm not sure if everyone knows but our tuning experience and reliability thread has been going on for over a year now. I think it has become a valuable resource for the entire community, not just folks who are tuned.

It's good for people curious about the reliability of tuning. It's good for the tuning companies because it gives then some real world data as far as their products reliability and popularity. It also gives people the opportunity to show off their rides and tuning experiences.

But we have one major issue holding the survey thread back. Lack of involvement by owners of tuned cars. It actually is mind boggling. I try to only PM people who have posted about the fact they are tuned or in the case of members selling their tuning device, were tuned. I simply ask "if you can, please add your car and tuning experience to our survey". And guess what, for every guy saying "hell yeah man, great idea, I'll post right up", I get 20 people who totally diss the idea.

And that's what I'm trying to figure out and why I'm starting this topic. We all know the survey is a valuable topic for the community. The admin features it as a pinned topic so I know they believe it's important. But why do most people here avoid posting their survey?

I'm hoping that some people who have decided not to add a tuning survey post their reasons here.

CivicX is one of the best online Honda communities there is. I mean for the most part if you have a problem or ask a question someone will help right away. I know I try to help every person I can without hesitation. Adding a survey is a great way to give back and help your fellow CivicX'ers and only takes 5-10 minutes to do. If you are tuned or were tuned in the past, add a survey.

Finally, to those who have already posted, don't forget to add updates so we can keep things (tuned mileage, tune changes, issues) as accurate as possible.

Let's keep building this resource. Thanks.

Apparently, I'm just stupid or naive or have more faith in people than I should. To me, if you're part of a community, and that community has helped you, you give back. You know how frustrating it is to message people you've helped or who you know are tuned only to get back a big fat NO?

I'll leave it at that.

Just got into the office and saw this. Great job, I absolutely love your tuning thread. I am continuing to follow it and will be posting updates once I put enough miles on my TSP Stage 1 tuned Si! I can say only don't be discouraged, people are reading it and it will bring more traffic to your tuning thread

I don’t know why anyone would take the time to crap on the thread if they’re not willing to support it. Not surprised at a general lack of participation as sometimes people are too lazy to be bothered to throw in their 2 cents and are here for just a few posts to fulfill their own wants... but if someone takes the time to criticize it... they could have just used the same time to leave their mark on the survey. I guess people just suck. :dunno:

I can at least speak for myself: I appreciate the thread and all you bring to it and everything else on the forum. ?

I appreciate that. Thing is, I designed the survey and I promote the survey, but ultimately, it's members posting their cars that make it work.

And the other point that sometimes gets lost is this. People think it's only about long term reliability. And yeah that's a big part of it. But it's also about people's tuning experiences and builds.

That's why I say to people, if you're tuned, add your car today. No need to wait til you've piled on the miles. That's the cool thing about this survey. It's ongoing. Meaning you can always post new updates over time.

Thanks Charles.

Maybe I didn't word my other post correctly. When I said, they say "NO", I wasn't being literal. I meant that I'll message active members here who actively post about their tuned cars. Asking them to consider doing a survey. I get no response which is clearly a "no" to adding a survey. I didn't mean to imply they were dissing the survey itself. They just aren't willing to contribute.

Here's the crazy thing. You guys know I post a lot publicly but I also get a ton of PM's asking me to read datalogs or tuning questions and I always reply to those people. At some point, I tell them about the survey and they don't add their cars. Yeah, I know it's laziness but still it's kind of frustrating.

I'm of the mindset one shouldn't make it so easy for Honda (or any manufacture) to so easily find said information.

No one cares or is coming after you for something you post in a forum unless maybe it's something life threatening or something against national security. And it's not like people are posting real names here or VIN's. It's all done anonymously.

I asked you in a PM to consider adding a survey and you didn't. 100% your choice of course. I only messaged you because you publicly posted on this very same forum that you're tuned. Here's one of your many tuning posts:
From what I have personally seen over the last several weeks, TSP by far. It would consistently stay at .49 in day to day driving and wouldn't go up much after a quick first through third gear pull. *Map 3 sport mode

For Phearable's I've never even seen a .49. It usually sits in the low .5x and will go up to .6x to .7x after a single first to third pull. *Map 3...

So, that's why your response confounds me. Having said all that, thanks for at least posting your reason here.

I'd like to meet one of Hondas investigators who spend all day trawling the forums for tuned people, figuring out their true identity, and cross referencing that with service records ?

Must be an interesting job. You on here bro?

I'm a newer member but I've got so much useful information from the tuning forum, the oil forum and all the good members who share their experiences so others can make their own decisions.
Thanks for all your efforts in making CivicX what it is!

Honda or any other manufacturer doesn't care who tunes. They would not spend one penny on resources trolling forums looking for tuned owners. 99.9 percent of people who post are anonymous, many using fake names (I could be Putin for all anyone knows) and like I said in the beginning, they just simply don't care. Coming from the Bimmer world, plenty of my friends and fellow BMW owners who clearly have bolt-on's and are tuned get their cars repaired under warranty

Let's discuss that. One, I've owned and run forums (cars and other subjects) for over 20 years. No one cares or is coming after your for something you post in a forum unless maybe it's something life threatening or something against national security. And it's not like people are posting real names here or VIN's. It's all done fairly anonymously.

I asked you in a PM to add a survey and you've turned it down. Your choice of course. Yet, I only messaged you because you posted on this very same forum that you're tuned. Here's one of your many tuning posts:

People coming after me? WTF are you talking about.

My only concern is in an very unlikely scenario, a law-suit against Honda, I cannot see why I would want to potentially provide Honda with more evidence to use against me in the suit. Realistically, I'm of the pay to play mindset so I cannot see myself ever having to go down this path, but never say never.

As for this website being anonymous.. in what way?

He never said that. Here is what he said:

"No one cares or is coming after your for something you post in a forum"

But ultimately it's your right not to post in @gtman 's survey, and we all respect that
