I was just browsing the Canada Honda website. Looks like the Civic is a much better deal for Canadians.

If you convert the prices with the current exchange rates, the SI sedan is over $1200 cheaper and the Touring sedan is over $4600! cheaper in Canada.

It's almost unbelievable. And the SI has better equipment there too! :/

I bought a 2001 base Civic for $21,000 CDN on the road (includes all fees and taxes) brand new.
I bought a 2018 base Civic for $25,000 CDN on the road brand new.

The price only went up $4,000 in 17 years. The 2018 is MUCH more car.
The 2001 lasted 17 years and I hope that the 2018 will do the same.

There has never been a better time to buy a car. Especially a durable vehicle like a Honda or Toyota.
You never know how much longer this "buyer's market" will last.

As much as I like Honda, they like to screw the US market in any way they can.

Our cars are overpriced and under-equipped vs. any other market in the entire world, with the exception of the SE Asian countries like Singapore that impose something like an across-the-board $50,000.00 tax on ALL cars, period.

The only reason we have an R now is because the England plant had an unused line. That's it.

I think that Hondas are cheaper in the US than anywhere in Europe or Australia/New Zealand and much of Asia.

They have underpriced the cars in Canada for some reason. That is largely because the prices were originally set when the US and Canadian Dollars were much closer to par. I expect the Canadian car prices to go up faster than the US car prices over the next decade or so if the Canadian currency remains weak.

That doesn't mean that you are getting a raw deal in the US. $25,000 for an SI is a darn good deal. And people here claim to be getting them for less than that. I doubt that you could get a brand new SI for much less than that 10 years ago. And the newest SI is a much better car than it was 10 years ago.

And the full LCD Dashboard "Driver Information Display" and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 60/40 split rear seat with fold down armrest.

The heated seats are a Godsend in our climate.
The only thing I don't like are the ugly steel wheels and hubcaps.
The Civic looks much better with the "EX" wheels.

And we don't get TPMS.

No TPMS in Canada? That's it. Heading to Canada's immigration website right now.

I wish Honda equipped the lower trims in the U.S. with a better infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should be standard equipment nowadays.

Right, totally take those options for granted. Yeah heated mirrors / seats are fantastic. I'm glad we don't have to deal with TPMS. I just check my tire pressure once a month anyways.

Of all modern automobile technologies, tire pressure monitoring systems are perhaps my biggest annoyance.
