Got the R cleaned up and ready for the mountains! I’m leaving from Orlando and will be staying near Johnson City, TN for about 5 days. I’ve been up in that area a few times before but I’ve always taken a rental. I’m looking to drive all over the place in search of some scenic/fun mountain passes. I was wondering if anyone could recommend something within a couple hours of Johnson City that I could visit. Any specific sections of the blue ridge parkway? I’ll probably be staying away from the tail of the dragon as I’ve heard it gets very busy. I’ve driven on a route called “The Rattler” before and had lots of fun.
Also, below you can see the route I’ll be taking to get up there. I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of going a bit out of the way in search of some fun.
