Test drove 2017 CRV with Civics Turbo engine

So I test drove 2017 CRV with Civics Turbo engine...and I was expecting the great pep that the civic gets...and no...it is very spongy on acceleration...very very disappointing. This new heavy CRV really needs 200+ hp. Not sure if anyone feels the same.

I'm guessing the throttle programming is more peppy on the Civic, plus we get to choose the sport setting. Without a sport setting the throttle and boost response is really dumbed down. Does the CR-V have a sport option ?

I did not see a sport button, only an Eco button.

Oh god there is no Sport button like Hyundai has? Bizarre that it's like an entire gear, oh well glad to know it's there. I'll have to hit the dealership again to test it out.

edit: This would mean you can be in sport mode and econ mode at the same time...something is wrong with this..

It just keeps the tranny pegged higher so its in boost quicker, its not a full-fledged affair with any of Honda's products.

I've been rocking Eco sport mode lately. Absolutely nothing wrong with this.

a true comparison should be testing a 2wd instead of the awd but im sure its still not going to feel as preppy as the civic. The civic is also 400-500lbs lighter

I drove the 2017 crv last night. I like the interior and it feels much bigger then the 2016 I had for a couple days last week. Highway drive is also smoother and less bumpy. Now for the engine, the 1.5 feels nice and torquey at the start but I felt it was underpowered when I was getting on the highway. The 2.4 seemed like a dog to about 40 km/h but then the cvt did it magic and the thing just took off . Highway It seemed like that 2.4 was better and much more peppy, I actually found the 2.4 quick from 40 km/h. So city driving 1.5>2.4 but highway 2.4>1.5. Overall I would say the 1.5 t is underpowered and over worked, I think a 2.0t with 200hp (220tq) would have been a better fit.

It isn't. It's been specifically stated by Honda it's not "sport".

It's just "S mode", to be used for better accelerating, engine braking, inclines, etc.

As a difference, Hyundai's have an actual button, where if you press it, it cycles between SPORT and ECON, all those words visible on the dash. In Hondas, s is just s.
