Nice!! Thanks to you, I now know that there are high amp output alternators for these cars. I got some pretty basic stuff in my fk7. I plan on making the wiring neater and making an amp rack soon. I’ve been using the Sygav head unit for almost five years now. Had a hand full of kinks with my iPhone not connecting. Usually happens after an apple update but then I just connect through Bluetooth and it’s back to normal. Hasn’t happen in a really long time. If you want, look into the Sygav units. Although there’s a new metra kit out for these now to install other units like pioneer, alpine etc. I’ve read mixed reviews on them. If they had them back then, I probably would’ve spent the money on it just to get a Pioneer unit.

Just a little update on the build project. Got the big3 and high output alternator installed a week or so ago, been plugging away on sound deadening since whenever I can find the time

Nice progress. I've never seen the liquid/paint that it looks like you're putting in the vehicle as a sound barrier, what is it?
That’s second skins spectrum noise and vibration coating. It goes on thick, I’ve been using a paint brush since it seemed to go on more evenly and work better than a gloved hand. Essentially a thick liquid based sound deadener like cld, works great for hard to reach places. I picked up a gallon on sale to try it out, but decided to use it on the trunk/trunk lid first to test it out

Couple years ago I pulled the trigger on a nice low mileage lunar silver 2019 Honda Civic lx, and I have just had this Image Dynamics IDMax10 collecting dust staring at me in the bedroom. So I’ve been itching to get a build started on this new car. Nothing too fancy since I got rid of my 80prs and hat unities when I sold my previous truck, but I’m excited none the less.
As of right now, I plan on keeping the oem stereo since I haven’t found any real promising alternatives yet. I’ve heard of joying touch screens, but I don’t want a cheap knockoff if it’s just going to go out in a couple years.
So this is what I’ve accumulated so far,
I will be using my image dynamic idmax10, unsure of the enclosure as of yet. I was leaning towards a false wall style setup in the trunk. I’ve got to save some trunk space as I use it too often not to. Also considering a fiberglass enclosure off to the side rear wheel wheel. I am leaning towards ported, but I’m not completely sure yet.
I’ve heard very mixed reviews on Skar, but decided to try them out anyways.
I have a set of Skar SPX-65c 6.5” midranges and a set of Skar FSX Pro 6.5” loudspeakers, and two Skar SPX-T Elite dome tweeters I plan on running active as my front stage. The mids will be in custom pods in the front doors, with the tweets aimed in the sail panels.
Haven’t decided on a dsp yet, but I’ve been looking at the D4Sound dsps. And I plan on eliminating the rear entirely. The front stage will be powered off a Skar RP150.4AB, and the subwoofer will be ran off a Skar RP2000.1D.
I’m thinking I’ll mount the amplifiers upside on an amplifier rack I will be building out of birch, and mounting to the underside of the rear deck along with two crossflow fans to help keep them cool.
As far as electrical goes, I’ve already got a 300A alternator being built by DroppinHz, and an XS power 5100r on the way. Along with the big three, I’m planning on one run of 1/0 sky high ofc from the battery to the trunk where I’ll split it with a distribution block to both amplifiers. I’ve also got another distribution block to run the ground wire from both amps to a single run, where it will then be grounded rather than having multiple grounds.
14ga sky high ofc speaker wire for all the speakers, 8 ga for the subwoofer. Everything will be wired to 2ohms.
I’m thinking I’ll have another distribution block to run relays for the dsp, and the crossflow fans.
Mind you, if I’m disappointed by the Skar equipment, I will eventually switch it all out.
I’m still undecided on the rcas, may go sky high, or I may go for something a little higher end.
Lastly, but not least, I already have a gallon of second skin sludge for the trunk. I’ve never used it before, but I’ve heard good things. If I like it, I’ll buy more. I am looking to do a bit more sound deadening, I’m just not sure of what I plan on using yet. I’ve heard and read great things about resonix, but I can’t really throw another $1000-$2000 into sound deadening materials alone at the moment. I would like to do around 50% coverage of cld, ccf, and mlv. As long as I can get everything closed back up, as getting the panels to snap back into place on my previous truck was a real pain after spending a couple days deadening everything. Any advice, input, or suggestions are more than welcome, especially if you also have a tenth gen civic. I’m sure I’ll be asking questions as I prepare and go through the build process, and I’ll be sure to document everything in my own build thread for y’all. As this is only like my second post, thanks again for having me🫡
i want to upgrade my sound system in my civic touring and i want to go with Infinity Reference speakers for my door speakers and kicker for my sub and small coaxial in the dash but i will be keeping my 500 watt stock amp because i want my stock headunit, i also wish you luck with you install and i hope it lasts really long too
