Hey everyone, just upgraded from my 1.5T Sport hatch to the Type R and I'm so excited to be driving it. I kept the old Sriri Moto strut bar I had on the Sport in case it fit on the Type R and it does! With one caveat, you have to remove the engine cover. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? Not sure if there is a possibly of heat soak to other components, or if it might actually improve cooling. Or if the cover is solely there for a clean look and there will be no effect to the engine bay.

No issues, if you get the spoon valve cover. You remove the engine cover normally.

no issue if you decided to remove the engine cover. Or get our bar that lets you keep it :)

A Type R with the hinged, 3 piece Sirimoto bar? Please don't do that. I bought one years ago and it's garbage. Use a quality one piece bar like Ultra Racing or 27Won.

strut tie bars are purely cosmetic on this platform. if you like how it looks go for it.

but any hinged strut bar is, by design not rigid.

you're just adding weight to the car with the upper engine strut bar...the firewall is your brace

I had the DC sports one piece. It noticeably improves handling/steering. It’s a worth while upgrade. I’m going for three piece so I don’t have to keep taking strut nuts off when I work on engine.
