I’ve got a 2018 Honda Civic Si with some annoying problems. The engine light is on, and I can’t change into sport mode. I’m also getting errors for the brake system, power steering, VSA traction control, and brake hold system.
Here’s the backstory: when I bought it, the stealership tried to wipe the ECU to get rid of the emissions light and during the test drive, everything seemed fine, right after they tried to wipe it, these issues popped up. I ran the codes, and nothing shows up except it runs lean on startup. I’m thinking either a K-Tuner with a TSP Tune or a new ECU might fix it. Has anyone dealt with similar problems? Is this a common issue, or did I get burned by the dealership?
anything would help. thank you!

Did you use an ODB II scanner that can read the Honda body codes set? A lot of the low-cost ones cannot.

Seems hard to fathom that there would be all those issues with any DTCs stored anywhere.
yeah I think it was a cheap one, do you know of ones that can read those codes, ive seen other forums kind o like my problem, and I saw a video where he had the same problems

Need a full report on all the systems with codes before we can start trouble shooting, need a full function scanner. Warning indicators may not mean there's a problem with their respective system, rather, they could have a code saying there is another system with problems. It is possible to have a new problem since the clearing at the stealership... how long have you owned the car? how many miles? what kind of warranty do you have? have you tried battery reset and drive to calibrate? Have you called the stealership to inform them their diagnosis/repair didn't fix symptoms?

pretty sure the dealer will be a dead end unless you received something from the dealer in writing that the codes would resolved. pull the codes and post them.

I’ve owned the car for like a month and a half now, it has about 50,700 miles on it, I don’t know on the warranty, I have not battery reset and I haven’t called the dealership, so should I go after the dealer then, I thought maybe when they reset the ECU the car thinks it is stock now but it is not.

BTW, you use the derogatory word, “stealership” to express your dissatisfaction. Keep in mind that there are many professional mechanics that hang out here just to voluntarily help other people. And there are many automotive dealerships whose shops endeavor to do high-quality work. I’m not sure being insulting is the best way to ask people to help you.

stealership is an expression that mostly deals the sales side but can also include the service dept. it's a word used to convey dissatisfaction with the dealer. let's not get to woke as it's not that serious.

Yea I'm slightly offend by this term, I've had dealings with some great and not so great. It's too much of a generalized term typically used by people that have no clue how to work on cars.

Or….
we know how to work on cars and see first-hand dealers swindling grandmas to sell their 2016 accord because it has “brake line leaks”
Or, we get dealers trying to fleece HONDA CORPORATE ITSELF.
Stealership is a pejorative with more backing than most will ever know.

if you get offended by the word "stealership" maybe you need to step away from the internet for a bit. so many things to get offended over and you pick that?
