So I've had my civic si for a year and a half now and about 24,000 miles. I get the oil changed at the dealership everytime, I have a basic +6psi tune from the Hondata Carb on my car. Everything was normal until a few days ago when the forest fires started and the ash was flying in the air, idk if that might be the cause but every few startups I do on my car now, it has like a really sickly sounding startup, like almost dead quiet like the car is choking and then the car starts up. Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? I changed my air filter about 5 k miles ago. Oil was recently changed about 1 k mile ago. Not sure if it's my starter or battery going bad or something. Thanks in advance.

Check your engine air filter to see if it's clogged.
Tried starting up my car and my battery died. I think I need to clean the clamps. I got it jumped and the car started. Had the battery tested and it was showing correct voltage and charge. Will clean the connectors and see if that helps.

Have you installed any aftermarket electronics that could be shorting? Are your battery terminals tight?

I have not, everything is stock. Battery terminals are tight, I think the heat killed my battery, we hit over 110 and my car was sitting outside the whole time

Heat shouldn't kill our battery that fast. I've lived in North Las Vegas for over 22 years, and while batteries don't last as long here as they do in cooler climates, they do last about 3 - 4 years.

Honda's batteries are... s***.

If you haven't been driving much it might not be getting much of a charge.

Either way, this is easy to have the dealership or parts store test.

What @jakdotdot said.
I've seen dozens of posts that talk about the batteries not lasting more than 18-24 months.
If mine lasts until Christmas, I will count my lucky stars, and replace it BEFORE it leaves me walking ... "Merry Christmas" to Kaiju.

Mine didn't even last 2 years in South Carolina heat. I have an AGM battery now

Update: got it tested, the state of health showed 25% left with a 72% state of charge. Got a new battery, everything is fine so far, knock on wood.

I got my car at 19 miles so god knows how they treated the battery before so my battery lasted approximately 16 months

Maybe I just got a bad battery, got it tested and it was almost dead
