Yeah I got super excited but remembered it will probably cost way too much. The gains I saw on the cropped dyno graph seemed pretty large though

We have the rv6 drop-in and W2 coming out in the future too
gains aren't that great on this turbo by the look of the graph and wheel sizes. power falls down on top end while W1 holds to redline and W2 will make even more power

Lol maybe they changed the scale to look more dramatic I just saw a snippet of the chart. Regardless I'm leaning towards 27won because of customer service alone.. just gonna wait and see what the W2 is like before picking between it and the W1
W2 will make more power over W1 and is ball bearing so obviously will be better

By their specs, it has a smaller compressor inlet than the MHI TD03.

Besides that, there doesn't seem to be a difference between the two

We'll see what the Spoon tax is

Edit: someone could have a typo too since TD03 is listed at 39.4 and Spoon lists 34.9

In which case, they're...

The same??

RV6 will be interesting too. Which is better for reliability? Run something like the TD03 at higher boost or run a W1 or even a W2 in lower boost to achieve the same hp?

For conversation sake, lets leave drive-ability and clutch out and assume that proper custom tuning is performed.

Provided that the engine can take so much (especially the non-Si block/rods,pistons), is it more reliable for the engine to lag and achieve 260whp at 5800rpm say at 23psi or spool earlier and get 260whp at 5600rpm at say 26psi? (numbers are indicative, just used as examples). Since bigger turbos like the W1 and W2 can take more revving, is there a number of RPMs where we are certain that the engine won't fail, say 6800rpm? In short, which setup and rev limit is "factory-reliable" (as much as an aftermarket set up can be "factory" reliable, that is)

So options now are:
MHI TD03
Spoon (same as TD03?!)
W1
W2
RV6
PRL

Out of those, only the W2 is ball bearing, correct?

Wouldn't surprise me at all if it's the exact same turbo, but with an anodized aluminum wastegate actuator arm, lol. The Spoon clutch is just the Exedy stage 1 clutch.

Stage 1 clutch for real?? :confused1:

Yup, same part number and everything if you look at the images. Doesn't even say Spoon anywhere on it.

Wow, never saw a photo of the MHI, so that's even funnier that there's no differences (assuming the misprinted inlet size).

Not trying to jack a thread but there is sooooo much to be said about these upgraded turbos. One thing to make clear to everyone is the W1 is a TD04 CHRA not a TDO3. I'm posting the link to the W2 design blogs as I highly highly suggest people follow along with them and really see why we are doing what we are doing and understand it all. https://www.civicx.com/forum/thread...ad-yes-it-happening-27won-w2-turbo-kit.51472/

I believe some of the turbo in the PRL line up are ball bearing as well.

The PRL lineup isn't a drop in kit. It is a custom kit they put together that uses pretty much any Garrett T25 turbo available. And I believe all gtx gen 2 turbos have ceramic ball bearings while the gt turbos have either journal bearings or ball bearings depending on the turbo.
