I accidentally spilled about a tablespoon of soap on my leather passenger seat. What's the best way to get it out? I've tried towels, and my shop vac but so far I still get bubbles.

Does the problem with cleaning it appear to be related to the perforated leather?

I wouldn't stress too much. "Leather" in cars is wildly misleading these days. 99% of the cars on the market, the civic included, that state their interiors are "leather" are not. They are real cow hide but that is then covered in a layer of plastic, usually polyurethane. Actually I can't think of any car on the market, except a Rolls Royce, that doesnt have plastic coated leather this includes Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac. What you're experiencing is soap that has gotten through the perforations and into the foam padding. You've got a few options. Continue to try and blotch it out using wet towel, or, let it be. The soap will eventually dry in the foam.

More water and patience...
X2.

Dilution is the solution.

It will dry/wash away whatever oils are in the leather... so add some leather conditioner back to the leather to keep it soft when you're done.

Powdered or liquid laundry detergent can be used in cleaning your car’s fabric and even leather car seats. Just choose a mild laundry detergent and make sure to not soak your vehicle interior with the solution.

In short, the steps you need to take are as follows:
Get rid of all the loose dirt, dust, and debris with a vacuum
Wipe the seats to make sure that all the surface filth is gone
Take out your chosen leather cleaner and do a patch test
Apply the cleaner onto a fresh microfiber towel and scrub
Continue to scrub carefully with enough moderate force
Wipe the seats down with another microfiber towel
Condition the leather to protect and rehydrate it
Wipe and dry the just cleaned leather seats
Buff and polish with a new microfiber towel

At least it was soap and not soup! Just follow some of the previous suggestions.

I’m pretty sure OP cleaned the soap off his leather like four years ago.

The answer to soap is water, not more soap. Water, vacuum and idle the car with heat blasting for like two hours.
