Yeah, in short, I made a mistake not using a funnel and I realize that. Poured oil and missed the hole, spilled a little bit of oil around the left side of the engine. Best way to clean? Will it be okay if a little bit is on the serpentine belt? And is this safe to run or is it a potential fire hazard considering where the oil was spilled?

thanks all

I would take it to a car wash and spray it with some degreaser. Oil on the belt can cause it to slip.

And as long as it didnt spill near the turbo/exhaust, theres no fire hazard.

Would I just spray degreaser all over the belt and spray water all over it? And maybe a dumb question, but it’s safe to spray water on the engine and belts?

Yup. And Its safe, just avoid spraying on electrical connectors and directly on the altenator. Use low pressure (not depressing the nozzle trigger) to spray it down so you have better control on where it goes.

How long would this take? So I would just spray degreaser on the belt, kinda hose it down, and that’s it?

Like 2 minutes tops. And yeah, thats it! Don't forget to hit the other spots the oil spilled on

in terms of like doing it, do I spray it while it’s running for so I can cover and clean the whole belt? Because I’ve already driven the car a little bit, and don’t exactly know now where the oil hit the belt if that makes sense.

You can. Should make cleaning the entire belt easier.
I usually keep mines running when im hosing the engine bay down.

You will probably need to turn it off afterwards to check if you cleaned it all off though.

Gotcha. Anything for drying it or just leave it as is?

Brake clean. Engine off.
Water doesn't evaporate like brake clean.
Why are people suggesting water?

I heard brake cleaner is bad for the belt. Very 50/50 evenly on what I’ve read

I usually just leave it. Heat from the engine normally evaporates it all
