That's one hell of an expensive option and doesn't come with the piece that goes inside the spare to hold tools nor the new top cover...why even opt for this lmao
I didn't use those parts out of my kit anyway. They are still sitting in the OEM plastic bags collecting dust in the corner.

But I don't exactly see the point either, unless someone just doesn't want the tractor yellow wheel in the back of their car.

Tractor yellow is JDM though

Possibly found another alternative. 5x120 bolt pattern, 18x4T +40 (same as CTR factory spare). Just need someone to confirm Brembo clearance. If it doesn't clear front Brembos, carry a adapter-spacer just in case?

At $230 shipped for just the wheel, what is the justification for this over a factory setup?

Factory kit + tire cost $300 - $400. This is wheel + tire only. I guess this costs a little less but needs some experimentation. Just another option to have. Always good to have options.

I caved and got the spare tire kit from my local honda dealer. Thanks to @RatedR for everything! $338 with the tire! We forgot to take a pic of the scissor jack in it's cubby.

Forgive me if this has already been covered somewhere along these 17 pages, but is this single part number (06421-TGH-A32ZA) really for the entire kit except for the tire? It even includes the sticker with the Type-R stock and spare pressures? If so, wow, that's awesome. Not too expensive at all.

Also, would there be any issue using the spare with 18x9.5 +45s on 255/40s in a pinch?

FWIW...My kit had a tire pressure sticker that was bogus. It didn't have the proper Type R inflation information. It pissed me off because I ripped the OE sticker off before looking at the sticker in the kit.

On a side note, does anyone know where I can get the OE tire pressure info sticker that goes on the inside of the door? I was looking at my car this weekend and it annoys me that I peeled it off. While I was able to stick it back on, the corners are coming undone from when I pulled it off.

Well damn, that sucks. Where did you order from?

And can you speak on whether that single part number includes all of the parts for the kit?

My kit came with everything but the tire, I am 99% sure that is how it is sold (kit has the rim, jack, etc. but does not include tire). I had to pay separately for the tire which they did not disclose, they included it over the phone on my quote. When I saw I had paid like $245 for the tire, but found the same tire on tirerack.com for like $150, I returned the tire to Honda. They gave me a hard time about it but I was able to get my money back.

$245 is ridiculous for a tire of that size. Even $150 is steep. So the kit included the new cardboard cover thing? Did you have to trim it to fit?

Yes, the kit includes a new floorboard for your trunk because the OE floorboard is too shallow for a spare tire. I had to cut off the right side of the trunk tray near the OE subwoofer to fit the spare tire, the kit instructions outline to do so and I believe the Type R trunk tray also indicates instructions to cut that piece off when storing the spare in the trunk

Hi everyone,

Just my experience regarding the spare tire issue.

I too was looking for a cheap solution like getting a scrap yard tire from a Caddy or wishing I kept my old Odyssey spare to see if it would fit, etc., etc... Would have to hunt it down, trial fit, get jack, etc... No used Type R spare tire kits in my area, too expensive to ship one, blah, blah, blah. Don’t wanna be one of the guys on the side of the road waiting for a tow because I don’t have a spare. Massachusetts isn’t known for their nice roads.

Called the Dealership where I got my CTR and the price for the wheel kit was $240 and tire $165. Another dealer wanted $253 for the wheel kit and I though they being the biggest Honda dealer in the area would be cheapest but they were the most expensive. (Neither are Honda eStore dealerships.)

From an earlier post there was a Honda eStore link to the spare tire kit then from there I found the search tool for the Honda eStore and found a dealer close to me that offered a better price on the Wheel kit and they are ordering the tire and will coordinate mounting the tire with the service department when it comes in. I think all the eStore dealers have the same price? No hassle of ordering from an online tire place then having to bring the tire to get mounted and stuff.

Cambridge Honda (Cambridge, MA)
Wheel kit $193
Spare tire. $163

Found a 10% off coupon from another dealer they accepted. Might be able to get a discount without a coupon if you ask nicely. The parts guy seemed pretty easy about adjusting the price if only 10%.

Total of parts $320 after 10% discount
