Software update...car wouldn't start

Went in for an oil change at Elk Grove Honda and they also did the software recall update. This afternoon as I'm going to the store, I go to start the car and it's not starting. It makes the noise of it trying to start but doesn't. I turn off car, take key out and try again. Still, nothing. I'm pissed and panicking as to why the dumb car won't start. Finally after the fourth try it starts.
I also noticed the temperature gauge had no bars when the car started. If I remember correctly, there's always bars even when the car is cold. Finally after driving a mile I started to see the bars. Anyone have similar issues after the software update? I should've taken a pic of the barless temperature gauge but I forgot

Literally same. I always figured even cold it'd have the blue bar at the very bottom by C.

There's not. At least not on my EX.
