Had pretty nasty road conditions here yesterday, hard packed snow and ice and I have to say that the stock Eagle Sport tires that came on my Si handled admirably through all 75 miles of driving... I was quite surprised. With that said I'm still happy to be getting my Blizzaks put on my stock 18" rims tomorrow. I don't think the 0.7 square inch difference in contact area between 17" and 18" tires are really going make or break the handling characteristics of the vehicle. You either know how to drive through a Minnesota winter or you don't.

I just got my winter wheels and tires put on. I got a set of 17x7.5 Sport Edition A9 wheels with 225/50R-17 Michelin X-Ice XI3's. I used to have a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3's for my old Mazda 3, which I was very happy with, so I decided to go with Michelin again.

For my SI Coupe, I chose Enkei EKM3 with 38mm offset.

As for tires, I had a choice of 215-50-17 and 225-45-17. I opted the narrower one.
