Hi guys
Some brands have ski hatches (for instance Ford mondeo... fairly simple one) . Looked over the net for honda ... it can be is called differently or does not exist such thing.
I want to do a retro fit so that I can take my skis without putting them on a rack, instead putting them in the trunk and pass them through the hatch into the cabin in the backseat armrest area.
Has anybody ever done this?
Regards
Florin

Hi!
my first idea would be to find a version of the car that would have such access panel in the rear arm rest and swap the necessary parts.
Altough I don't recall any version that has it, so I think your best option is to mod the panel.

I have never done this, but I assume it should be a simples cut in the rear of the seat area, and create a hatch door to access the trunk, maybe even use some parts of another model and retrofit them? could be an interesting project!

I'd start by peeling the carpet from the rear of the seat and acess the area to see if it's feasable to do any cuts, and then analyze the possibilities, measurements and such.

Please post some pictures if you end up advancing with this project! I love useful projects like this

After a while i started the project... i didn't find the door ... or at least I was not willing to pay 500€ for a plastic... I'll try at salvage
So I made the hole... I went pretty easy. First I cut the the steel with a pair of scissors (it is quite thin) then I adjusted it so that to fit the armrest... and also not too much... to keep some rigidity of the back seat. I put some electrics band on the cutted edge not to be too sharp ... planning to put a rubber seal instead
Next I will square cut the fabric and will add a zipper, if I don't find a suitable hatch
Until next time
Florin

Today I managed to make the hole edges okish (I've fixed them to be square with some silicone paste and fixed it with some carpenter clamps until it dries)
The aluminium u profiles are 10mm by 10mm... and found them at leroy Merlin local store
Next is to cut the fabric from the trunc and make a door covered by it
