Do you plan to use your SI Factory wheels in winter?

I browsed an online tire stores and some wheels but not all are "winter proven". I also read that chrome and wheels with polished surfaces are no good because of salt corrosion.

Never had any issues with my 9th gen rims . But I 9nly had it for 2 years.

Not planning on doing anything with my 10th gen . The cost to replace a rim isn't much .

Chrome yes, polished, not so much. Salt will create a haze or oxidation eventually on the polished part of the wheel, if you don't keep them clean and waxed regularly. I was shopping for winter rims and tires, and decided just to purchase a beater to run in the winter. Put the Si in the garage when it snows, and not worry about it.

I do wax my wheels but only on the outside. Also, I can only wax them before the winter and the wax would probably last one month!

Try using Collonite 541. Best wax out there. It will last all winter. The inside of the wheel isn’t polished, just aluminum. Honestly, if you keep the car mostly clean and get one of those undercarriage washes after a heavy salt, you will have no issue.

I use Meguiars products and I found them to be excellent. Maybe I will try Collonite.
With a new car, I will definitely go to a touchless car wash more often.

I think I'll just use winter tires on original 18" wheels after the first summer, then get 17" wheels with all-seasons... Roads here are much smoother in winter with all the pot holes and gravel covered up. I can get 225/45-18's (2.4% taller), and 225/50-17's (2% taller).

Ended up paying about 140 per tire for Firestone Winterforce 2's and 175ish per rim for a set of EX-T alloys, 17x7 +45 with 215/50/17. Fits fine, plenty of clearance on the caliper and rides alright!
