That's $780 for an extra 64,000 miles or two years of bumper-to-bumper coverage (the time will probably be up before the mileage is) and an extra 40,000 miles and no extra time on the powertrain coverage (which is already 5 years or 60,000 miles).

Any modern vehicle - even a Kia - will make it to 100,000 miles without major problems. As far as electronics like the Display Audio system go, if they make it through the standard 3/36 warranty, they'll probably continue to last well past the limits of even the longest Honda Care warranty which is 8 years or 120,000 miles.

They offered me the same kind of extended warranty at an employee rate too which was actually a huge discount from normal. I still said no tho. With 54k on my 12 si, the only thing I had to buy was tires at 33k miles. And minor maintenance over the course of 4 years. I don't foresee any major problems with the 17's that won't be covered under basic warranty. However you can always add the extension later on, it'll just go up in price as the mileage goes up.

I bought a 8 year 120,000 for myself. As cheap as they are it's a no brainer for me. Our service department is always busy. You might not have any trouble in 60,000 miles, but to think you won't have any for 100,000 or 120,000 is just foolish IMO.

I'll sell my car in 5-6 years more than likely, and when I do I will probably make more money on the warranty than I paid.

The foolish part is expecting to have a $1,000+ repair on a Honda within 120,000 miles. You must have worked at a Dodge dealership.

Service departments stay busy mostly with paid maintenance, out-of-warranty repairs, and base-warranty repairs. Go run some "TPS" reports and see how few extended warranty repairs there are.

You don't actually believe that you'll make money on an extended warranty, do you?

As a finance manager, you of all people should know better!

If hes an F&I guy then he didnt pay anywhere close to retail for the warranty so that will drag down any refund he may get after trading it in 5 years down the road.
