Good day, I am getting a 2020 Civic Si and am wondering if I can go with 225/45R18 tires on the stock 18"x8" rims? I don't know of/see any reason why not but would like to know for certain before buying the rubber. Your help is appreciated, and I thank you in advance ??

Yes, they'll fit. I'm not on stock rims but I do run 225/40R18s at the moment on a wider wheel

Since you're looking at running taller than stock size, you'll end up with a little speedometer error.

I'd go with a 17" wheel/tire for winter and save the stock set for summer.
I would have done so if I didn't already have these babies....

I had the same dilemma, had 17x8" OZ wheels on my 2017 Sport hatch, ended up trading those on the car and getting narrower 17s for winter so I can run 215s. Using the stock 18s for summer.

But you can certainly run 18" snows if your area isn't a pothole minefield like some parts of the US.

Would be nice to be able to run 215s, but since it's a lease, even though I plan on buying it out, I'm just gonna keep the stock rims for winter as I really love my Volk reps. If I didn't have them I probably wouldn't have even thought about upgrading to an Si lol.

I live outside of Toronto and don't go there often. That's where all the potholes are ??‍♂ I'm a pretty aware driver and tend to be extra cautious when driving in areas I don't know well.

215/45-18's will work on 8" wheels. It's actually the combo I bought. I run one set of tires year round and deal with some moderate snow and some crap roads so I thought this was a good compromise size versus 235/40 (it actually was recommended by Tire Rack).

Here's the fitment on 18x8...

I was deciding between that size and 225/45 but chose 215/45 to keep gearing and the speedo closer to stock.

Looks nice ?? I had no clue 215s would work on an 8" rim ??‍♂ I'll definitely take it into consideration once these have run their course some years down the line, although with low pros I do like the idea of having as much sidewall as possible. But this will be my first go with 18" winter wheels so will have to feel it out. All I know is they won't be anywhere near as comfortable as the 195/65R15 I'm currently running on the LX lol.

From the Canadian sites I checked online there wasn't any 18" recommendation outside of 235/40R18, had me wondering if anything else would work even though I have 225/40R18 summer rubber on 18"x8" lol.

If you truly experience a full winter's (lottsa snow) season, go with 17"s. 18"s don't have much in the way of sidewall options if you want a "taller" sidewall.

Agreed, with the 18" I'm basically splitting hairs. I'll see how they feel & perform this winter and go from there. If not at all satisfied than next year will make a change. Time will tell.

You'll be good with that setup, it's actually ideal to go slightly narrower for winter.

We'd recommend permanently using the stock wheels for winter, and saving up for a lighter and stronger wheel set with dedicated summer tires for next year :)

The Si's potential is unseen till you do this, there's no debate about that.
