Hello all,
Have you encountered susceptibly rusted new rotor?
They are purchased from Advance Auto Parts. Called CarQuest Platinum series. Claimed to withstand salt test which seems perfect for my location.
But look at the photo——I’m surprised to see one of them look so yellowish at brand new condition...
This is after 1) Cleaned with brake cleaner and 2) washed in warm soapy water for 2 times. I used a brass metal wire brush for step 2 coz it should be safe on iron surface. Yet it still looks yellowish and can wipe off considerable dust.
Another one looks metallic silver without any yellow/brown texture. Both are cleaned in the same way. So this one is suspicious of getting rusted at beginning?!
Now I am a bit unsure if I should put it on my car, or get another new one. Tho, I just painted the center section for anti-rust.
