I know that neutral dropping is a big no for autos and i noticed you can shift from drive to sport while moving but just because i can doesn't mean I should. Can this possibly cause damage to the transmission?

If you have a CVT, it does nothing except change ECU programming when "shifting" into S. Same with L. ECU raises RPMs, changes throttle response, adjusts boost targets, etc. and it might adjust the belts in the CVT I think, but it shouldn't cause any harm "shifting" into S while driving. It never caused issues back when I had a Civic.
