Hey guys, I am a Type R owner and I am wondering if any of you replaced the aluminum shift knob with something else, if so how do you do that? Tia

So does anyone know how to actually unclip the shift boot? Cause I can't just unthread the knob. It has a locking but underneath of it. So there has to be a way to unclog the boot down. I tried but I couldn't get anything to budge :/... Stupid simple things

Finally got that damn boot down. You really feel like its gonna break! Anyways, I installed one on my s.s. weighted knobs I made last year. Should I make new ones for the type R? Would anyone be interested?

I would be - it looks to be slightly smaller than the stock knob in actual dimensions?

did mine.. took about 3mins to complete... used a phone plastic prying tool to seperate the chrome from the black aluminum. boot came right down.
unscrewed the old one and the new one on. Although i didn't see the point of pulling the boot down...

How did you get boot down. I am having a problem on my Si
Just pry it down with something skinny like a flathead screwdriver or a trim removal tool. Should be able to insert it in that gap between the locking nut and the boot clip.

I've since replaced my stock knob with the Spoon duracon one. Best heat resistant option out there IMO.
