A little DIY Sunday funday CVT shift boot swap that took about an hour to finish.
1. First use a flat head or a trim removal tool to pry the "boomerang" handles. Be careful not to break 4 clips each side.
2. Locate the indicator marks on the side of the shifter collar. There are 2 clips right beneath the marks that you have to push them in before pulling the shift collar down. You then find the first screw to remove. Once it's out of the way, remove the cover above the first screw, to find the second one to remove. Once they both removed, the shift knob will slide right off.

3. Remove 2 screws to separate the surrounding plastic base of the shifter. Unclip all the electrical connectors (econ, ebrake, and brake hold) by push in and lightly wiggle the connectors loose.

4. Use the flat head again to push in 4 orange clips to remove the shift boot base. There will also be another electrical connector for the shifter illuminator lights that need to be unclip.

5. There are another 4 clips that need to be remove from the shift boot base to take out the leather shift boot. Afterwards, you will have to manually remove 8 heavy duty paper clips (6 on both sides and 2 on both ends.) Try to reuse them if you could on the new shift boot replacement.

6. Lastly, remove the zip tie that holds the collar ring. Replace it with another zip tie or a thin metal wire.

7. Put everything back in a reversed order. Enjoy your new shift boot!

So you want to use a manual shift boot for your CVT?

I think it should work. The shift boot I got is for a manual.

The staples are a pain in the ass. I ended up breaking them all off. I don’t see how you expect me to take them all off in one piece and replace them back all over again. It’s impossible without breaking them.
