Because of better price, I may buy a new Civic from a dealership a bit far away. Is it a problem to service it in a local dealership? How about warranty claims or new car defects?

I asked because in Canada, most Mercedes dealerships are corporate stores. Honda, on the other hand, is franchise.

Warranty shouldn’t matter but they may be more hesitant to help with “new car defects” on a car they didn’t sell. If you can save significant money I would not worry about it though.

Does not matter whatsoever where you buy it.

There is no problem at all. You can service your civic at any dealer in Canada. However, you should still go with the elantra sport....making a bad decision my friend.
Actaully, I am more concerned about new car defects. I can imagine one dealership would be reluctant to take care of the new car defects. There may be defects that I will not find upon delivery.

BTW. I am not too crazy on the exterior styling of the Elantra GT.
