I got mine updated this morning, only tested a little on the way home and with the service adviser. So far seems to acquire Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth music faster, and so far no skipping. I am fortunate to have a great dealer service dept. no appointment and my car was being seen by a master tech within 3 mins of arriving. I was there about an hour total. Will keep you posted how it operates.

Just got back from having mine done. The system is noticeably faster now - I don't think it's just from the reboot or whatever, I think there was some real code optimization done here. Everything's much snappier, the animations are quicker and smoother, and it goes to LaneWatch or the backup camera much faster. Made a few CarPlay calls and used Siri, didn't have anything weird happen with the volume like it usually does. Fingers crossed that this actually fixed that stuff for me.

If anyone in the Phoenix area is having trouble getting the dealer to do the update like some of the others in this thread, try Right Honda in North Scottsdale - they did it pretty much no questions asked and without an appointment, which was great. Very happy with their customer service thusfar.

One thing this definitely does not fix however is the walk-away auto-lock multiple beeps thing where it acts like the key fob is still in the car when it isn't. Had that happen in the carport just now when I got home. Assuming the issue there is something deeper in the car than the HU software...

How can I get local dealer to install this if my VIN isn't showing it needs this update?

As I understand it, there are different classes of Honda willingness to pay for fixes to your car. Some, like safety "Recall" and "Product Update," they assign to VINs in their system. "Everybody gets a trophy." Others, like this, are only done upon the dealer identifying/confirming a problem with an affected car, and figuring out that the problem is described by a fix Honda has already agreed to pay for. In these cases, no problem, no fix.

If your VIN is in these ranges:

2016 Civic 2-Door EX 1.5L 2HGFC3…GH350002 thru 2HGFC3…GH353584
2016 Civic 2-Door Touring 1.5L 2HGFC3…GH350013 thru 2HGFC3…GH353394
2016 Civic 4-Door EX 1.5L 19XFC1…GE000009 thru 19XFC1…GE212889
2016 Civic 4-Door EX 1.5L 2HGFC1…GH600049 thru 2HGFC1…GH644117
2016 Civic 4-Door EX 2.0L 19XFC2…GE001338 thru 19XFC2…GE221236
2016 Civic 4-Door EX 2.0L 2HGFC2…GH500049 thru 2HGFC2…GH548745
2016 Civic 4-Door Touring 1.5L 19XFC1…GE000001 thru 19XFC1…GE212880
2016 Civic 4-Door Touring 1.5L 2HGFC1…GH600064 thru 2HGFC1…GH645106

You *should* be able to get them to do it if you have experienced, and report, a mix of one or more of the following symptoms:
• Bluetooth® Audio skips.
• Audio icon does not work.
• GPS error code 1302 sets.
• Error message SXM check tuner appears.
• GPS initialization screen appears.
• Rear camera is stuck on in Park.
• Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®(HFL) pairing problems.
• Rear camera does not display.
• There is no sound from Apple CarPlay™ after connecting Bluetooth®, then USB.
• System does not recognize “SXM” in voice commands.
• Pandora® does not play after HFL call ends.
• Voice commands do not work.
• Android Auto™ will not play.

It may help if you do not tell them about TSB 16-022 or that you "read about an update on the Internet". For some stupid reason, this sets some dealers into "No" mode. Sad that you have to play stupid to get your car fixed, but there it is. Perhaps somebody who's worked on that side can explain why this dumb dance is necessary at some dealers.

If your VIN is not in those ranges, you are probably not going to get them to do it as they won't be able to get reimbursed for doing it. (And, one assumes, Honda knows that it was originally built without these problems.)

Oh hey my vin number falls in that range! Almost didn't make the cutoff too. I guess I'll just tell them about some of those problems.

For what it's worth I was very open about having heard about it on a Civic enthusiast forum, the service guy actually seemed pretty impressed because he didn't yet know about the update himself. I definitely wasn't forced to demonstrate or video any of the listed issues. It says "customer requests audio update" on my receipt and that's it.

Woo, I'm very close to the beginning of the range! My car goes in tomorrow for a visor to get replaced (it keeps smacking me in the head) and I'm going to have see if they'll do the update too.

My 2016 Civic Touring sedan is in the shop this morning. Demonstrated the "no device connected" with iPhone/CarPlay after connected problem.
Version on my Civic is System ÎĽCom H61F00 70.E2.12, Software Loader 1.F186.67, the service bulletin is 1.F186.69.

BTW, anyone else have any problems with USB 3.0 thumb drives for MP3/AAC files? Seems these vehicle are USB 2.0, after testing multiple thumb drives none of my USB 3.0 drives work, this shouldn't be an issue because 3.0 is supposed to be backwards compatible with 2.0 connections. They are also going to look into this issue at the shop today.

Will report back what they find and do.

I'm using one off these and it works fine. Make sure you are FAT32 filesystem. NTFS or exFAT will not work.

FAT 32. All drives tested are formatted FAT 32 and same files. Strange 3.0 drives didn't work but 2.0 did.

Strange indeed. I've had no problems with either USB2 or USB3. Do you get an error message? What's "not work"? It can take a long time for the car to get happy about the drive if it's got a lot of contents. (Mine has 9k files and takes the better part of a minute.) Anybody else having USB3 problems?

Message is "no data". Hopefully they figure out the issue along with the CarPlay issues.

Do you know if there is a drive size limitation?
