Anyone have a belt routing guide or any idea how to get the tensioner released? From pictures I see it looks to use a Torx bit on there? If anyone can chime in on this that would be greatly appreciated as I can’t seem to find anything anywhere on the internet

Nevermind I figured it
It is ridiculously easy to do on these cars
Took me 20 minutes to do plugs and belt

And how did you do it?

Looking at my Touring, I don't know how I would get my hands in there to replace the belt.
Yeah I‘m kinda curious too, is there access behind the front passenger wheel ?

Check out the service manual in the maintenance forum. I’d post it up but I’m away from my computer rn

I remember undoing a little cover that’s attached to fender liner, pulled out of the way and there’s a big head? Like this on the tensioner and you can put a big 17mm? Wrench on it and release the tensioner very easily

look at picture I’m not sure if this is the tensioner for our cars but the tensioner has the key? Like piece on it which I circled in green and you release the tension on it from there and it’s SO much easier than most other cars where it’s super tight and hard to hold.

you release that and belt comes out easily
Best done with another set of hands, we did it in about 15 minutes

you remove passenger wheel as well for better access

Yeah, looks like you just put a wrench on there from the bottom and push towards the rear of the vehicle. Then you can slide in a bolt to hold it in place.

Thanks to @BrandonSmith for the diagram. Is this for the 2.0L engine only or is it the same for the 1.5T? I am looking to confirm the routing of the belt for my 1.5T.

Mine has close to 85k miles so I am planning to replace the belt before it becomes a problem.
