Title says it all, but I've been wondering, for a while, what would be the highest we could go on stock cams and not float away with IT in the sewers. Anybody done any research on this? Tuned peeps, what your RL?

I've seen it cranked up to 8k. But 7k is pretty good. Not worth raising the limmiter unless you have a spooly boy that can benefit from it.

That's fine. ktuner has maps that, I believe, go to 6800.

If you want to make use of the higher rpms get a PRL big turbo. For the stock turbo, You'll have to drop PSI in the higher ranges or your car won't like it, if you go that high up[/QUOTE]

If you are stock, you are making max power @5700 RPM, and if I remember redline is 6500 rpm. Your not making power with the current turbo beyond 5700 RPM, so you would just be putting additional stress with no gains. Going near 7000 RPM you could be introducing valve float, which is not good

well i was more wondering for when you get the car tuned on the dyno and adjusting for mods etc. not just raising the rpm on its own, if that what you thought i meant.

Yeah, that's what I meant, stock with no mods or tunes. When tuning for power, the power band will be moved higher up in the RPM range, but in a linear way. In this case I have seen the limiter moved to 7K by Eman on his 2017, but he installed upgraded valve springs if I remember

No reason to up the limit unless you have upgraded the turbo. With an upgraded turbo 7000-7200 seems fairly common. I think MAP ran theirs up over 8000 without blowing it up somehow. ;)

yeah that makes more sense, it seems like everyone is on the same page with having big turbo or modding the valve springs to bring up the rpm. I just was wishing for a way to bring the rpm in a functional way lol but that doesn't seem to work without supporting mods.

Oh hell yea, and that extra couple rpms help a lot too
What kind of tune you running? custom dyno? or do you tinker with it yourself?
