I ended up bypassing the solenoid ( run a line directly to intake manifold from the diverter valve, haven’t had the issue return since it was sporadic.

no leaks were found and no issues from it… vehicle building boost without any hiccups now, driven it for about 2000miles plus continuously on a long roadtrip and can drove flawlessly.
I assume you are referencing Item 1 in the drawing below. It has two lines connected to that solenoid, do both get connected directly to E-3-2?

basicially you take a line from 2 (manifold and go directly to valve on turbo, you can go to the aluminum part of the line as well just make sure it is the one which goes to diverter valve).

the other parts will be plugged off with a rubber grommet cap, I can get you a picture when I get a chance of how it looks on the car, although it may look a bit different as I am also running the new pracworks manifold, but the routing is all the same.

Apologies for the lack of updates. If I have learned anything from this process it is that getting custom parts made in low volume can be very time consuming. We are currently on revision 3 of the new T51R Mod / anti surge compressor cover. We currently have a few setups being tested and everything it looking great.

After finding no proper way to cram more into the R660 compressor housing we started over from scratch with new compressor housing and inlet elbow. Instead of limiting ourselves with the stock inlet gasket like other brands. We switched to an o-ring with a full 3" T51R anti surge inlet compressor cover. THIS COMPRESSOR COVER WILL ONLY WORK WITH A RV6 3" ELBOW. That being said we did make the elbow compatible existing titanium inlet pipes for the FK8. RV6 will also be releasing a carbon fiber inlet pipe for the FK8 that will be compatible with big bore/race maf intakes.

I know it might seem like swapping a compressor cover is trivial job. But there is much that goes into it. We have special fixtures and tooling to properly disassemble and assembly the turbo without potentially damaging the compressor wheel. For example the CHRA is pressed into the compressor cover using a load cell while the C-clip is installed using a slide hammer to ensure proper seating. Turbochargers operate at extreme speeds and tight tolerances. Something done incorrectly could easily damage the turbo and greatly reduce its life or cause a catastrophic failure. We had a customer send a R660 out to have the T51R mod done at a professional machine shop. They ended up cracking the CHRA during reassembly.

For those that can can not afford downtime. We will offer a rebuilt core trade in option for an additional $400. Basically this gets you a new/rebuilt bearing section (CHRA). This way you can send back your old compressor cover and CHRA after the conversion.

Here is the pricing structure for the upgrade. We have a limited number of compressor covers and will be doing the upgrade on those who have already purchased the turbo first. Once we get more stock we will be offering complete turbos with new cover already installed.

R660 existing users are paying more at the end. $2599 plus the $650 upgrade= $3249+shipping
Not fair for existing users

Ive had my R660 for 24000 miles
For $800 they are basically upgrading the unit and giving you a brand new turbo to use.....pretty good deal for those that want to upgrade their older units IF they want to.

The beta unit im using is capable of well over 600whp even without the AS housing.

For anyone seriously looking to make max power I dont think $800 for a new turbo is unfair. Thats a pretty good deal for guys who have already beat on theirs for a while and get to have a fresh turbo and even more power on the same boost they are running.

Again - totally a choice and one i think most guys making 540-560whp with this turbo would make to squeeze another 15 to 30whp across the board out of their setups. For me its totally worth it and i could upgrade for $400 and for $400 more getting a fresh CHRA is a smokin deal lol

Yup that’s why I went the new CHRA route. It’s coming off anyway so I might as well get a fresh one for a bit more money. The deposit hurt even though I know I’ll be getting it back😅

but that's just it - the upgrade ISN'T $400 - it's $650+shipping - (that's part of his point)
as you cannot buy it without their carbon pipe - so that old $400 isn't even a realistic point. (The stated reason, was testers were having serious issues making any other pipe work)

so, it's AT LEAST $1050 (+shipping of course) to get a new/refurbished (CHRA) turbo, with the latest housing; which is around $500 higher TCO for existing users, than new customers.

which is the real point I think he was making - that it's not necessarily a "DEAL" for people already with the turbo - and he was lamenting that fact. and he's objectively not wrong.

whether you determine that value is good for you or not - or you totally agree with his point or not., the point I feel is valid. it's like that for many upgrades.

We decided not to include a label since that throws off our whole system since we haven't shipped anything yet. We will however be including a new gasket set for those who need it. Yes it is cheaper for those buying the new turbo new instead of upgrading. From a business standpoint we have to account for the used compressor cover and the much more work involved.

We do our best. Its either publish something or non stop emails and phone calls wanting more details. I will edit the post to avoid confusion.

It is fair to make changes along the way. I think the community really appreciates vendors that are actively discussing these things with us. Keep up the great work!

You have to ship your turbo to them, for both options, and they said they would not be supplying a label (rightfully, because that causes hell with most systems, as in providing a shipping label for non-RMA)

Just to make sure I'm on the same page here, we are upset that we have to pay part of the shipping costs for a $3000+ upgraded turbo package on a $40,000+ car? I've yet to talk Fedex or UPS into doing anything for free.

They probably should have eliminated the upgrade and changed the part number from 660 to 661. Then people couldn't complain and if they wanted to purchase a new model they could pay full price.
Some people just dont realize how amazing RV6 is to offer this deal to existing customers.
