I'm FBO with a custom tune on Hondata. I've ordered the 660, XDI HPFP, 1400CC injectors. I plan on installing them myself. Will I be able to drive it to the tuner or would I have to have it towed?
You should get a base tune from an E-Tuner in my opinion before driving it. Only because of the HPFP and injectors.

Those are probably going to make it run super funky without a base tune.

So I'm ok
You would have to make some changes in Flashpro to tell it what hpfp and injectors you’re running. After you do that you can drive it to get tuned. If you don’t tell it what hpfp and injectors you’re running the car will not run or will run very very badly.
So I'm ok to do the turbo without a tune? Reason being is the injectors haven't arrived yet but the turbo and hpfp have

Yeah that should be fine. Just be easy on the throttle.

I used RE71RS, Cup2s and recently Azenis RT615k in a pinch as the REs were out of stock 😆 they arent too bad - noisy for sure but still hook decent

The first two minutes of this video are hits with traction control on - you can hear a little slip but nothing crazy as I'm full throttle the whole time. This was on RE71RS tires

Which MAF housing are you using?

I'm using the rampage 4" mega maf housing unplugged. I'm tuned without using the maf signal which is steadier and consistent. Rock solid idle and silk smooth throttle response. Even when I used the maf signal the 4" maf was much smoother than stock. Solid upgrade no matter what. 👌 they make it for PRL HVI and I believe they have a version for Eventuri now IIRC

Just an FYI...I have a DREAM Auto heat shield kit in the for sale section that's been modified to fit the RV6 660

Apologies to @RV6 if this is too far off topic. This turbo looks fantastic and I am considering it for my DE5 ITS (https://www.integraforums.com/forum/threads/forevercar’s-its-journal.51739/)

Since @speedyserg mentioned in his posts that with cams and DI only, this turbo can make power all the way to 8000 rpm or even 8200 rpm. The XDI pump states 7800 rpm as the limit though, no?

Of course, the other puzzle is, I believe Audi R8 runs similar HPFP and revs higher than 8000 rpm stock. But I have no idea how similar the mass and mechanisms are though.

The turbo has been rock solid for me at 7800+

The Xdi pump has been used above 8200+rpm but again - it's like a wear item. At 8300+ the pump will wear significantly faster so by keeping it at 8200 or below you'll be fine. The reason why I stated with cams is because the stock cams cannot carry power past 72-7400 and power trails off significantly....on my dyno you'll see even with a ported head the stock cams go from 601whp to 550ish just a few hundred rpm higher. It's not the turbo it's the cams not able to supply the air needed for high rpm operation.

I will eventually be testing the TR2s along with the anti-surge and finally the pracworks DI only intake manifold - we will find the upper limits of flow eventually but at 600whp there is still room to go - my hope is 640+ whp but until we test - we won't know. Turbo is solid tho 550whp on stock engine no prob. Great top end

Thank you for sharing additional details. A Honda engine without a great top end isn’t complete. This turbo looks to be what’s needed!

Have you considered Kelford cams? Curious to see how they compare to the TR2 or TR3.

KELFORD hasn't released any sets for testing so it's difficult to say what they will do.
The TR2s and TR3s have been proven in testing and on actual street cars locally so we have seen them perform.

Luke did a great job of showing the testing results before release and we've seen big gains on local cars - while I know the cams can flow my testing is more focused on optimizing the R660 to see where the flow limits are.

Locally we have back to back data against other cars running TR2s on various setups so it minimizes my variables when I'm trying to compare the R660 against other turbos like the p700 and g30-770. We've seen around 630ish on a built motor p700 car with TR2s so I'm hoping we can do the same on my stock motor. Without knowing the flow limits it's still a guess at this point but that's why I keep pushing it.
I was shocked with the pracworks data - gained 80whp in the mid range and around 40whp at peak on a 650whp Garrett setup (made 700+whp)....again - a larger turbo setup but still - mid range gains like that are eye opening as to the restrictions posed by the stock manifold we have.
By letting the motor breathe we should be able to see just how far the R660 can go. Not cheap but more of an experiment than what the avg guy will do now.

Cheers

This turbo is definitely amazing. Does anyone have pre-turbine pressure data that they would be willing to share?
