Hey Folks! 2017 Civic Hatch Sport Touring here with the amazing 1.5T. Figured I'd use this thread as a blog to post about the car. AMA?

I initially leased the car while I lived in Las Vegas. Had sold my 2007 Sti w/50kmiles. Wanted a more relaxed ride and the honda sensing options made my commute easy. After the 3 years and only putting 20K on the car I decided to buy it at the end of the lease. Living in NC and not NV I've come to commute 200+ miles a day. Just about to hit 50K by the end of the month. I was dealer serviced during and once after the lease. I've switched to self service because of cost.


Current thoughts of today.. Fuel Prices! jeez.

Gas prices are going up! I've recently been using Non-Ethanol 89oct and logged some data.
based off my quick math but miles of data.

93 E10	42​	203​	4.83​	3.6​	17.40​

I'll have to say the car feels better with 89E0 and 93E10.
87E10 I can feel it struggling on grades.

Currently at 48.2K miles, I am coming due for fluid and filters at 50K so I'll continue to run 89E0 and log clean oil/filter data as well.

Had to google that one. I don't think the vendor I use is TOP TIER. Conveniently I only use one Circle K location because they use paybycar. The station reads my ez-pass transponder and sends me a text asking what pump I want to use. No fuss, it's activated and I pump. Receipt is texted when you hang up the pump.

Been running the numbers to replace the Civic with a Tesla Model 3 but cost to own is high. It would save my monthly by $200 w/o solar & battery storage vs. fuel cost. Juice isn't worth the squeeze.

$5 is my cost per gallon I could make the switch at poor mpg's on the civic. (38)
$7 is my cost per gallon I could make the switch at great mpg's on the civic. (47)

Just finished washing the car. Got little black specks on the starboard side of the car. The did come off with the rag but they scratch off. Not sure.

Thought of the day... how many states don’t allow stuff to be mounted to the windshield. I sure do enjoy having my Ram Mount X-Grip. I usually tuck it in the left corner of the windshield but the sun catches the screen too much. In this position, the phone is in the shade.

Half way through the work week... some times it just drags on.

Thought of the day... Charging. I've been using the Goal Zero Sherpa 100 power brick to charge my devices while I drive. I would normally use the carplay usb port to charge my phone but I am not interested in being connected to the screen.

I utilize the Honda Garmin map as well as Waze/Google on my phone to route back and forth to work. During the 100 mile trip, a lot can go wrong. I like having second opinions when I start to get rerouted. I always have my Bose QC II's on because of all the noises in the car. Not road noise... but all that other... where the f*** is that coming from noises. Maybe they should issue noise canceling headphones with every Civic.

Fresh tank of 89E0… I am loving this non ethanol~. al most at 50K… in the next couple days I’ll post oil and CVT fluid change pictures.

Absolutely busy weekend and managed to squeeze in some time to swap oil on both cars. Swapped oil on the Civic’s CVT after 13K miles. It was very clean and the plug had just about nothing on it. The change was to align with 25K service intervals.

Cabin air filter is the picture was the wrong part # for the civic. It goes to the accord. Pictures to follow.

And that’s that.. All buttoned up with some replacement screws for the ones the stealership didn’t replace the 3 times it was serviced.

That’s super annoying tho, Why does‘t the dealer replace the screw for $1 and mention it to the customer. Hooked you up bro.. I know it only cost us $5 in total but we don;t want your tray falling off on the highway.

Midweek... This is just about the time I start hate driving 200 miles a day. The Hatch is a champ.

What I want to do... install some type of fan in the body work of the car to pull or push air. I go to the gym every morning and my clothes sit in the car for the day.

Wonder how easy it will be to get the back bumper off and install a solar powered computer fan in the positive pressure vents? Has anyone done this? I want to DIY the project but I am more of a engine guy.
