Has anyone removed the tank and painted it with success? I'm getting to that point where my engine bay is coming along but this tank is insanely ugly. Any instructions/tips/tricks on the removal and replacement? I know to use shop rags as it'll spill and maybe top it off some but I'll have to find the technical document on how it's installed.

Also do you need to bleed it afterwards? I'm not very knowledgeable in this area.

Pic of my engine bay for reference:

Thanks!

it would not require bleeding, just refilling the reservoir. This is the highest point in the system. I was going to use a turkey baster and suck the reservoir dry. Then disconnect the two tubes. There are maybe three small bolts to remove and then just lift it out. It’s not bad at all. Just have towels and rags to manage any spills. I’m gonna wait till Black Friday and pick one of these replacements up

What all is required to make it work for Si?

not much to it really… basically came down to swapping a couple hoses and adding a couple fittings / couplers…

You'll need a 5/8 to 5/8 coupler and a 3 way 5/16 joint… Once you remove the old reservoir tank, you’ll disconnect / reuse the top hose and attach it to the bottom output of the Radium tank (that’s where the 5/8 to 5/8 coupler connects to the factory hose).

that’s about it…

…and you can thank @Thusee for paving the way on this one and sharing his knowledge / experience with the community! ?

Yep not that hard to do. For those wanting to do the mishimoto tank, you'll need to shorten the lower hose by about 2 inches.

I have installed quite a few locally. Onto Si and Non Si.

One thing to note about the radium tank is that although it looks super nice it has multiple points of potential leaks.

The gasket between the top and bottom half and the L brackets holding the clear tube vs Mishimoto which will probably never leak due to 1 piece design.

Quick question… does the radium tank sit parallel with the valve cover? Or is it a slight angle?

Hope this view helps. Slight angle as it sits with the chassis tower.

HA!… I thought the same thing after putting mine together but much to my surprise, it all worked out and (thankfully) I didn’t have any leaks… I’m sure you’ll be fine too!

So the fk8 has a straight shot 5/16” hose from thermostat housing right to the overflow. Si has one from rad and one from thermo stat housing, both 5/16 that lead to a tee which combine into a 5/8 back into the reservoir. We are shrinking the 5/8 in have reducing the flow potential from the two hoses leading to the tee. Our radiators weren’t designed for this. I had a comment from someone on my insta saying this wouldn’t work and not good for radiator and we need a 5/8 to lead back from the tee. Thoughts?
